It's fine to like the guy. I just think it's ridiculous for you to say that Nutt's comments are childish. It's a little bit of a pot and kettle thing.
The only reason he said anything about MSU is because he was asked 4 separate questions about things Mullen said or did, and you say his response was childish. I guess so, but childish behavior gets childish responses.

If mullen goes 5-7 this year and loses the Egg Bowlhow many people will still have their head up his *** and buying into everything he says? On the other hand if Nutt goes 6-6 or better and wins the Egg Bowl alot more OM fans will start buying into what he is selling and have their heads up his ***. We had a craptastic year last year and have lost 2 straight Egg Bowls so yes our fan base is on the fence with Nutt right now. Winning cures all and that will include the fractured fan base that is OM.

Nutt's performance. Frankly, I thought he took the high road. The questions themselves placed Nutt in a defensive mode and a lot of people in such a setting can be made to look defensive. As for his answers, it appears from the reactions in this thread, Nutt got under a few skins here. And look back at his answers, 9-1 against State while at Ark and didn't think much about it, 45-0 pasting of MSU his first year at UM; and yes, UM signed 9 off last years DD. What's the problem? MSU still has two back-to-back victories and are higher than a kite right now. What if Nutt had referred to 'the School Beneath Us' (TCBU) or 'State College' or some other cheap remark? Funny, never heard him say such. So he tried to stay above the fray and is still labeled a jerk?

that everytime he's asked anything about MSU, he goes into his "I was 9-1 agaisnt them at Arkansas and beat them 45-0 my first year at Mississippi" routine. Never mind that for most of that time, we basically forfeited the entire season before it even started and that Arkansas always catches us in between our 2 biggest games of the year. We get is Houston, you dominitated our asses for a decade. It doesn't mean **** now though. And yes, you had the higher rated recruiting class this year. Guess what, you've also had the higher rated class for the last 5 years. Didn't translate into wins the last two Thanksgiving weekends though.

I want us to run off Mike Bianco yesterday. I think Bianco has done a good job building a program, but I don't think his philosophy works, and I believe his time has passed. I want Tyrone Nix fired. I think he doesn't gameplan well at all. I think he has no ability to adjust in-game or even from week to week, and I think he's overpaid because of that. I want Houston Nutt to be out of he hasn't turned it around in the 2012 season. I think he's a decent head coach, but he's far from perfect. I actually think he'll have things turned around by 2012 and he'll do relatively well going forward. I think Kennedy is very mediocre with a drinking and philandering problem, but at the same time, given what we've put into basketball, a coach that consistently takes us to the NIT while playing a crappy brand of basketball isn't all that bad. I think Pete Boone needs to retire yesterday, and I think we need someone like a Michael Thompson to come in and run the show.
But apparently I have my head up our athletic department's ***.
On your programs, I think Stansbury is Andy Kennedy without the drinking with a slightly better recruiting ability and a slightly better idea of X's and O's. In other words, he's a better coach than Andy Kennedy by a little bit, but like Kennedy he has a ceiling that he likely won't ever get past without some luck, and he'll never sustain a higher level. I think Cohen is a good coach, but I think your program could do better.
I think Mullen is a good coach. I think his in-state recruiting strategy is going to be an interesting test case for Mississippi recruiting. I have my doubts about whether he'll be able to take you any higher than he did last year if he keeps up that recruiting strategy, but time will tell if I'm right or wrong. That said, I don't have a lot of respect for the way he carries himself. He's Lane Kiffin with a better offensive mind. I know your fans like it, because he's your guy, but that's just my opinion.
Those are my opinions, and no I don't defend everything Ole Miss athletics, because I attack parts of it myself.. I like this board mainly for the non-Ole Miss talk, and that's why I post here as much or more than Nafoom, but occasionally when I see a post that I think is asinine, I will call it out as such. Of course, I realize that to many of you lately, anything that doesn't praise Mullen as Football Jesus, while saying Ole Miss will never be good again is blasphemy. That's fine, but I'll still occasionally call someone out.
And yes, occasionally I like to write an essay. Read it if you'd like, or don't.

He's had a first time coach come in and put it to him the first two seasons. His in-state competition has apparently taken over in every aspect from points in the egg bowl to national attention. He was the laughing stock of the SEC last season for the Masoli Experiment and eventual crash and burn. He has almost every UM Alumnus on him for losing 2 straight to a first time, unproven coach, and he responds to them about winning 2 cotton bowls as if that buys him immunity for ****** coaching. The only thing he can claim is these scientifically evaluated recruiting class numbers he has compiled. Although most of these top signees never even reach the field and the win trend is on the downslope with no signs of changing anytime soon. He doesnt have one QB on his roster who has ever taken a snap in the SEC.

and Nafoom. But what do you expect us to say? When you beat our *** in 09' we could hang on to having a 9 win season and a NYD bow win while y'all sat at home. Last year when y'all won we had nothing to brag about. But you put the ball on a tee for us with the "this is our state" **** so when we do grab the top prosects of course we are going to boast. Just like Mullen saying we will never lose to this team again... If we win one game and that one game is the egg bowl then yeah we're gonna beat our chest because of what Mullen said. But back to your orginal post, Nutt didn't come out and rep recruiting titles. And if Nafoom did that has nothing to do with what Nutt said at the presser
