Boone is such a ******* idiot. He never learns, just goes by those damn analytics. This is the playoffs. You ride your horses. As soon as he came to get Fried out of the game I knew that was it. And then he brings in the one pitcher who has struggled the most over the past 2 months. Weaver was a flash in the pan. He is done. Boone said Fried had lost command. Well, he still had a shutout going. Fried said after the game he had plenty left in the tank. You could tell he was pissed in the dugout. The Yankees signed him for games like this to pitch not to be yanked out of a shutout game in the playoffs.

I said from day one after Boone was hired that we would never win a WS with him in charge. That was 9 years ago and I still maintain that.

Kay ripped Boone. Said you protect pitchers during the regular season so that you can extend them during the post-season.

Kay also ripped the decision to not start Chisholm.

Not only was the decision to yank Fried puzzling, but also to go with this year's version of Weaver as first option in the highest of high-leverage spots with a completely rested bullpen is mind-boggling. Inconceivable, really.

I knew as soon as he took Fried out and brought in the one year wonder Weaver that it was done. Fried had another 20 pitches in him minimum. He was cruising.

And who in their right mind thinks that benching Rice because he is a lefty and playing Wells, also lefty, is a good move?? Wells sucks, Rice is super hot right now. That move makes zero sense to me.

And benching your 30-30 guy like he is some type of platoon player, who also happens to be super emotional, was dumb. Now Jazz is upset and I'm sure it will affect him going forward.

Who knows if they could have held on and won 1-0, but at least it was a possibility until Weaver made his appearance.

So frustrating.

Bring back Girardi....he would win multiple titles with this type of talent.

Girardi had his notebook...but he was a very good manager. He also didn't care if all of the players thought he was their best friend....

Now that actually hurt Gary Sanchez back in the day....but more often than not it's the managers that are tough on their players that win in the post-season

Like I said. Play your best 9. These are pros. They don't get to hit left handers because they are benched during the season. Just stupidity on Boone's part. Rice makes contact. Wells doesn't. Play your best ******* nine, Boone, you damn idiot!

Don't look now, but Rice may not start tonight, as Boone likes Goldschmidt versus lefties.

That would be a mistake, imo, as this guy Boston is starting may not pitch many innings. Boone should just roll with the same lineup as last night.

Saw that this morning. Last night they were talking about Cora and Boone and how Cora doesn't need analytics to decide what to do. That is the way it should be. They then said Boone is going to use analytics regardless of the situation. So, we might not see Rice tonight. Like I said yesterday how is a batter ever supposed to produce if he is not given the chance? The analytics are for such small samples anyway. And Rice makes contact most of the time regardless of how the pitcher throws. Put Goldschmidt in the DH slot and bench that no hitting Stanton.

Watching this makes me think of all the games in the post-season over the last 20 years where the other team ran some young kid out to pitch who was just blowing gas by our bats pitch after pitch

He could always blow up in the next inning but I have loved watching Cam do exactly that to the Sox through the first five innings

Interesting that Boone said afterwards that this was the most pressure-packed game he's been a part of.

Most strikeouts in a winner-take-all game in postseason history.

I did a double-take when I saw this, but I guess Koufax and Gibson did it in non-winner-take-all games.

When they said that Schlittler was the first pitcher in postseason history with 8 innings of shutout pitching, 12 strikeouts and no walks, the first thing I thought was that I couldn’t believe he did something Koufax and Gibson didn’t do.
