With 2 outs in the first inning and no one on base Cam was looking pretty good. The Jays then proceeded to get dinky seeing eye hits and broken bat hits to score 3 runs. I figured it was not going to be the Yankees night so I decided to watch something else. Good decision on my part. I did switch back once and saw Stanton's home run. Checked the box score this morning and saw that the pen continued the trend of every reliever that entered the game allowed a run.

One thing I have not mentioned this year that is bothering me and it just reared it's ugly head in today's game again. It's the Yankees inability to consistently turn double plays. Either Volpe plays back waiting on grounders losing precious time or he double clutches the throws or tosses them too slow underhanded to Jazz. The pivots by Jazz is he also double clutches the ball or fails to make a clean catch and neither of them throw ball to first base straight on their pivots. Toronto just scored a run because the Yankees had a chance at back to back double plays and failed by a step on both of them because of what I just mentioned above. And I'm falling out of favor with Gil. His walks are out of control. 2 straight walks with no outs led to a run.

Really tough spot to be in regarding the playoffs if we don’t win the East. It’s almost guaranteed we face the Red Sox in the wild card series if we finish behind the Blue Jays. If we can win the East we’d likely get that first round bye. Just a huge difference this season.

Blue Jays also have the tie breaker with the Yankees so we have got win the division outright. Troubling that the Yankees are something like 24-40 against the AL East. I haven't checked that figure lately but that is close. Not good. Need to pay the Red Sox back this weekend. Also, the O's have been a thorn in the Yankees side for years. The Yankees have their work cut out for them that's for sure.

Yanks catch a break when Gleyber can’t field a bullet to put runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out and…

Volpe can’t get a bunt down
McMahon strikes out
Grisham SWINGS 3-0 on a fastball on the outer black with Judge on deck for a lazy flyball

Who in the ******* **** gave him the green light there

But Grisham is a pro, he has to know that even with a green light he’s only swinging middle middle. Not a running fastball on the black

so terrible decision from him as well

I spared myself the carnage. I've seen enough of Boone pulling a starter who is cruising and going to a pen that is awful. After Cruz gave up the lead I changed the channel. Every time I checked back Detroit had added runs. No need to watch a pen ranked #24 in WAR in MLB try to win a game. That is pathetic for a team such as the Yankees and Cashman is directly responsible for this crap assembled pen of worn out arms and injury projects other teams released.

And Volpe. What has happened to him? 3 bunt attempts and popped them all up and McMahon followed with a K. 2 men on and no outs and they don't advance the runners yet again. And Boone batting Vople and McMahon back to back is just idiotic.

With Boone at the helm this team has no chance for a WS title. Period.

Just when I thought that the failure to get runners up even one bag from 1st and 2nd with nobody out in the 5th would be the most embarrassing thing of the night....the bullpen did not say "hold my beer"....they said "hold my KEG and I'll show you embarrassing"

It's really sad for us diehard Yankees fans. This team is never going to be consistent in any phase.

Just in case any of you are looking for some castor oil....here is Cruz and Leiter's combined stat line from last night

0 outs
4 hits
9 runs (all earned)
4 walks
1 hit by pitch
36 total pitches
14 strikes
22 balls

Now you don't need to find Granny's old stash of castor oil to empty your stomach

And don't forget inherited runners scoring which this pen is very good at allowing. Leiter allowed 3 and Hill allowed 1.

I did forget the wild pitch....good catch 2for

Throwing batting practice speed would have yielded better results than that abomination

Good Lord this team is a joke. The Yankees have a terrible record against teams above .500 and the Tigers are showing why the Yankees cannot compete against the better teams and have no shot at the WS. It's sad when the best pitcher for you in a game is a position player named Austin Slater who throws 36 mph pitches.

Should've re-signed Gleyber and kept Chisholm at third, which worked fabulously during last year's stretch run and postseason.

Jazz showed he had the arm strength and defensive chops to handle third-base.

Jazz has been dealing with an arm issue for most of the year. He was not going to be able to hold up there for this season. That's when they moved him back to 2nd when his arm starting hurting to the point where there were thinking he was going to have to be put on the shelf for an extended period

I knew Boone was not going to let Gil get in another inning towards a no hitter. He went to Cruz who has given up a run in his last 5 appearances and promptly gave up a home run losing the no hitter and the shutout with one pitch. But all that matters is the Yankees got the win.

Would be really nice to get a win tonight to put some separation between the Yankees and the teams that are right behind them in the wild card race. Yankees have a precarious lead.
