Well, the Yankees won and that is what matters but they sure are a boring team. Mariners were up late in the game 1-0 despite having only 2 hits. The Yankees were 7-73 with RISP over their past 11 games. Girardi mentioned that all the batters seemed to be trying to be heroes instead of just putting the ball in play. I was going to turn the game off but decided to go one more inning and lo and behold the Yankees ERUPTED for 4 runs. Lol

Might just be a coincidence but Rice has been awful at the plate since participating in the homerun derby.

Grisham has started to show signs of life at the plate.

I would have kept Dominguez on the roster and sent Spencer Jones down.

My wife loves Rice. I told her the other night the exact same thing you said. I said he has sucked since the home run derby. She told me to leave him alone. lol I also wonder how much him being just the DH is affecting him. Some players need to be in the field on a regular basis and fold when they are just the DH.

Jones will be sent down next week when Bellinger returns. The Yankees have seen what Dominguez has brought to the table. He has not lived up to his potential. Having Jones hang around a while to get more MLB exposure is a good move. And he's a better outfielder than Dominguez and reportedly is the 2nd fastest player on the team. One of those 2 will eventually be traded and I think it will be The Martian.

Grisham has a really weird swing because of the way he holds the bat. He swings straight armed and doesn't follow through, but he can smack it! I was a switch hitter. When I batted left handed I kept my ring finger and pinky under the knob. I found it gave me more power. To each his own. lol

Yup...a lot of people have decided what Dominguez will be already. He's still really young. I honestly feel bad for him....every time he starts to hit some he runs into the wall making a catch or get hurts otherwise...or simply gets sent down. He wasn't making the ridiculous Mantle and Trout comparisons as a teenager. I honestly still believe there is a very good major league ball player in his skill set. He just needs to have a long opportunity to settle in without having to look over his shoulder, or get hurt. For example, the numbers didn't show it but I saw a ton of growth in his right-handed hitting skills this season after spending the offseason working on it. His defense is on him. But he is fast, an elite natural athlete, and strong. Yes, I think the Yank's trade him but I still believe he'll be playing a decade from now.

Our pitching, honestly, couldn’t be much better. Let’s say EVERYONE gets healthy. You’d have to expect the four-man rotation heading into the postseason would be Schlittler, Fried, Cole, Rodon. That would mean that Schmidt, Weathers and Warren could all go to the pen if that makes sense.

Offensively, Judge coming back makes or breaks the season. If he does, and we also get Bellinger and Stanton back, then you have to believe the offensive takes a significant step forward.

A completely healthy roster makes this team’s ceiling very high. Like AL pennant high. But, as things stand right now, we simply don’t have enough offense to win in October.

The key is getting Judge back in time for him to find his swing. Belli should be back around the first of September so he'll have an entire month to get into a groove. Stanton....who knows. He can hit .425 for a couple of weeks with 8 dingers, then go hitless for 3 weeks while swinging at breaking balls a foot out of the zone, or bump his toe and be gone the rest of the season.

Weathers should be moving to the pen RIGHT NOW. He's already thrown well over his previous season high in innings and he has the stuff to be a real weapon in the pen. Lefty throwing high 90s cheese can really work.

Luis Gil threw his first rehab inning last night. 13 pitches, 12 of those were strikes. Now that's an arm that could be a sneaky bullpen addition. He should have enough time days wise to work his way back up to the Show and show in September if he can be an October weapon.

Tampa has a system that works. I mentioned several years ago that they were going to a method that would be very successful. And they are hard to beat at home. I think opposing teams are intimidated by the huge, empty done during games. Feels more like practice than a game.

I miss the Tampa heckler. That dude was hilarious. He raked Jeter over the coals one game. After the game Jeter was laughing discussing how funny the heckler was.

It appears the Yankees messed his batting up like others. He's a natural right handed hitter so it's baffling.
