Was it legal? I was listening on the radio, and the Tupelo radio crew--who is Kellumesque--griped about it. They claimed there is a rule prohibiting tricking the opponent by substitution (or words to that effect)--which they claimed Oak grove did.

Where was he lined up? It was as if he was on the sideline and stepped on the field right before the snap. TV wasn't ready for it live and never showed a replay to show where he was. Maybe Tupelo just fell asleep, though. It was really odd how close to the sideline and open he was.

The radio guys were confusing, and I couldn't tell. There was some speculation that he had remained just barely on the field from being on offense while they sent in the kicking unit.

I just don't see how that kid was lined up legally. Oak Grove ran the kick team on the field so fast and snapped it so quick that it was hard to tell what was happening.

OG deserved to win but I agree about that fake field goal.. No way he is that open unless he lined up illegally or no one covered him. Also I thought the refs were awful they missed an obvious face mask against OG and called a hold against Tupelo instead???

Yeah that was bad. You could tell that the OG bench was shocked about that one.

Everyone in the stadium just knew a personal foul face mask was coming.

I'm pretty sure I recognize a couple of those officials. from city league youth football. Especially the guy in the white hat (is that the referee?). My experience us that they have no clue what they are doing. Half the time they don't even know the rules.

By rule, you are supposed to come onto the field inside the numbers before getting set. If you don't make it inside the numbers it's illegal procedure.

I am a Tupelo homer but it seemed kinda sleazy the way OG pulled off that fake. It was like they used the confusion of quickly running the kick team on the field at the last second and the incompetence of the refs to their advantage.
