I guess we'll be seeing Texas joining the SEC soon then? (The gap would be even bigger if Texas switched).

Wouldn't want to see the great Texas playing in a conference with such low academic standards...

whereas they are first in the Big 12.

And they would have had two schools closer to them (Florida and Georgia) than they have now.

I hate Texas.

So it looks like we are on par with Arizona State, Kansas State, North Carolina State, schools like us.

if I had included the non-BCS team on the chart too. Out of all of those, only SMU, Tulane, Baylor, Rice, Tulsa, and a few MAC schools are rated higher than us.

texas wanted no part of the sec because they would have a much much tougher row to hoe to championships. texas would not be "just another team" in the sec but they would not automatically be a kingpin. they'd be a top tier team but would have 3-4 games every yr that they could easily lose. that is the reason they didn't want the sec...nothing more nothing less...they were sceered.

They want a conference they can dominate (not just on the field but even moreso off the field). And that was never going to happen in the SEC or PAC-10.
