I think he'd prefer to attempt to draw a foul rather than actually giving himself the best opportunity to make a shot. On the occasion when he air balled the wide open look he took in the 2nd half, I think he did that because that was the first shot he took in the 2nd half where he wasn't trying to sell a foul.
