State commit Terrell Johnson eager to see future teammates this fall

2026 Mississippi State commitment Terrell Johnson has been a steady performer the past two seasons in the Holmes County Central High School secondary. The Rivals three-star cornerback is coming off a solid junior campaign where he had a couple of interceptions and nine PBUs.
With his senior season kicking off next week, Johnson is ready to stay a consistent producer for his team. He also wants to take on more of a leadership role in his final prep season. Johnson is listed as the nation’s No. 86 cornerback and the state’s No. 24 prospect by Rivals.
“I’ve been focused on my footwork and my speed,” Johnson remarked. “I have also been working in my leadership and we need that this year. I will be at corner again but I may also play some at safety and nickel.”
Johnson is also eager to display his offseason improvements on the field. He also believes his previous experience will aid his development this fall.
“I think I have improved,” added the 6-foot and 175-pound Johnson. “Everything has started to slow down for me on the field and that experience has helped things just slow down for me.”
Johnson was one of several Magnolia State products to commit to Mississippi State back in June, and he made that call during his Bulldog official visit. He noted that the staff remains on him hard, just like they did before he committed.
“It’s been really good with Mississippi State,” explained Johnson. “I love the gratitude and the love the coaches show me. The coaches talk about our season and their season coming up.”

As expected, Johnson’s recruiting process has slowed down tremendously since he mapped out his college future. And he prefers to not have any recruiting worries heading into his senior season.
“It’s been pretty quiet since I committed,” Johnson mentioned. “That’s been good and I am glad I have my decision made. I feel like I took the best opportunity for me.”
This fall Johnson also plans to be a regular visitor to Davis Wade Stadium. And he expects the Bulldogs to fare better in the second season under head coach Jeff Lebby.
“I expect a good season out of Mississippi State,” noted Johnson. “I know they’ve been putting in the work and grinding. I expect a really good year and they brought in a lot more talent since last year.”
