4 seed or better - almost certainly Albany
5 seed - probably Albany
6-10 seed - Albany very unlikely

Long story short, the 1-3 seeds are very likely to all be southern/midwest/west coast teams. Leaving Albany to be assigned to two of the four 4 seeds (and therefore 2 of the 5 seeds as well).

Have UConn or RU as the lucky winner for Albany/MSG
Pittsburgh? UVA? Va Tech? Trying to think possible teams
Would they do both? Would make rooms difficult get.

Nice consolation would be Orlando /Vegas Relatively Cheap plentiful flights and rooms.

Yes, depends how RU & UConn do, perhaps relative to one another.
They may put both there, but as Rutgers has the hotter hand now, they are showing up in more of the Albany Pod Projections. Haven’t seen many with both..
UConn May be the more likely to also get East Regional. If RU goes to Albany, it may be a 50/50 East or West regional.
If RU drops to 6, then an Orlando/Vegas combo becomes more likely..
I have all possibilities booked..

I think you'd better put Mags absence into your analysis
He's critical to this team's success or failure

I dont think they’ll give a 4 seed a regional advantage in the sweet 16 so I don’t think we’re MSG bound unless we somehow go to a 1st or 2nd seed

To expand on my earlier post, I could very well see all of the 4 and 5 seeds being in Albany or Orlando. 1-3 and 6-8 seeds being in the other sites (Columbus, Des Moines, Greensboro, Birmingham, Denver, Sacramento).

And the reason you are seeing more brackets with Rutgers in Albany than UConn (as 5 seeds) is because Xavier and Marquette are projected to go to Albany in a lot of brackets as 4 seeds. UConn as a 5 seed therefore would be excluded from Albany to avoid 2nd round conference matchups --- benefits RU.

They definitely would...the only protection is for 1-5 seeds in round 1...beyond that, the goal is to keep everyone as close to home as possible (while balancing the bracket and following all of the other bracketing principals).

Just reserved a hotel for Friday night at a Fairfield Inn about 10 min away. The other Marriott brand hotel in the city (2 of them) appeared to be sold out.

I was thinking of booking a hotel in the area in case. Best bet to book for 3 nights in case they win Friday and play again Sunday? What are tickets cost usually around for first/second round games?

Other schools I suppose are possible are UMass Lowell, Maryland, SHU, Providence and Hofstra.
Always curious about Albany as host site. Enough hotel rooms available?

The what ifs are fun!

If RU and Uconn fall on the same seed line (which they are now) the highest rated team will get Albany and the other will get bumped.

Yes if we're both 4 seeds. But highly likely two 4 seeds will be in Albany so probably a moot point in that scenario.

If we're both 5 seeds, then avoiding conference rematches etc in 2nd round comes into play. So in a bracket where Marquette and Xavier are both 4 seeds in Albany, UConn will not be in Albany.. they aren't going to set up a Xavier/UConn or Marquette/UConn 2nd round 4/5 game.

Likelihood of Marquette and Xavier both being 4 seeds in Albany though? With Columbus and Des Moines?

Don’t know how Birmingham/Greensboro and Orlando are divided up?

Can’t figure out UConn as clearly not as good as they were earlier in the season.
They have a tough week with Marquette and Creighton this week.
A semi tough week next with Seton Hall rematch at home and Providence away.
Then relatively easy final three of St. John’s, DePaul and Nova. Ugh.

Lots of Hotels on WOLF 🐺 rd.
Book now..
Biggest question is 2 or 3 nights -
I booked 2, thinking afternoon round of 32 games early enough to drive back that night

Them Marquette and Xavier likely 4s…and likely to Albany. UConn won’t be in Albany cause they can’t be in same bracket: so we have upper hand.

1-5 seed and we’re in Albany. I’d say 95% chance.?
Us getting a 1-3 seed is extremely unlikely so throw that out. If by some miracle we get that high then 100% Albany.

As a 4 seed we'd be 99% Albany. The only way we wouldn't is if two other northeast teams are seeder higher than us (e.g., UConn and Providence).

As a 5 seed I'd say 60% Albany (see discussion further up)

6 seed.. 5%... Only way that happens is if a UConn or a Providence is a 3 seed AND we get matched up with them in the bracket in the 2nd round.

7-9 seed 0% chance of Albany. 7 seeds get matched up with 2 seeds and 8/9 with 1 seeds. None of the 1 or 2 seeds will be in Albany.

The 8 1st/2nd round sites are each assigned to two of the top 16 seeds.... 1 seeds get first dibs, then 2 seeds etc.

Albany is not the first choice for anyone in your top 16... So by default they'll have to put two 4 seeds there (in my example Xavier and Marquette are both 4 seeds).
