Odds on Fedora and Mullen facing off...

I'm going to guess that by 2014 at least one, if not both, of Fedora and Mullen are no longer around. For Fedora, that would have to be his 7th season, and Mullen would have to be 6.

Someone pointed out that none of the current players will be playing by the time this series rolls around, which begs the question, will either coach be around?

I'm guessing no, just because turnover is so high whether the coaches do well and get hired by bigger programs or whether they don't do well and get fired.

for 2015 and 2016. I want to say Orgeron and Bowden were the coaches when that was done. I'll bet by the time we play that first game, we'll both have had 2 coaching changes. It's funny to me to see these way in advance deals that the current coach probably doesn't care that much about because they know it's unlikely they'll be around to play it.

I'm counting on Mullen's *** being out of here after 2011, and not because he has crxxmed. I fully expect his *** to be snatched away.

Fedora? Sumbitch will be in the Big 12 by then.

I will say that I think at the very least one of them will still be at their schools, possibly both.

Let's face it, unless USM goes undefeated and makes it to a BCS bowl (highly unlikely) Fedora isn't going to get hired away

State would have to basically make it back to Atlanta in order for Mullen to get hired out elsewhere since we are a "coaching graveyard".

Fedora could very well be fired by then especially if they'll fire someone who won the conference on a regular basis.

Mullen might be fired, but I doubt it. He's a very young coach and no matter how much coordinator experience he has there will be a learning curve to some extent. I just don't see us being as bad as we were under Croom, and hell we gave him 5 years.

If we do well under him, he will no doubt start making around 2 mil a year, maybe more. Not that that's an extraordinary amount these days, but who will be able to offer him more than that and will also be looking for a new head coach in 2011?

money is not all they're interested in. If he decides that he doesn't like it in Starkville, and another school offers him as much or more, he may be gone. I can tell you that I live in an area infested with LSU fans, and that Mullen is attracting quite a bit of attention from that bunch, although they're sly about it. They are not happy with Miles and don't believe that he gets the most out of the talent they have over there. He could be gone by 2011 easily if they don't start doing better this year and the next.

I could see Byrne being out of here by then before I could see Mullen being gone. As for Fedora, he will probably still be sounding the attack. It would be interesting though if either coach is struggling compared to expectation going into 2014 and one gets croomed by the other in the game.

Hell I don't know. There is a large handful of programs that afford greater notoriety and money.

Edit: I'm not necessarily including USC, Jr. in the list of notoriety programs.

will get him alot of attention from big football programs that can pay him more than we can. You never know when a bigger job will come open. In the SEC alone, Tennesee, LSU, Bama, and Auburn are programs I would consider a step up from State in terms of a coaching career that have gone through coaching searches. Meyer may leave Flordia. Florida may come after Mullen. As crazy as it sounds, Mark Richt is feeling heat at UGA. Georiga may decide they want a Meyer protege'.

then mullen will not have to do nearly that well to get picked up. heck croom was sec coy with an 8-5 record. aub didn't wait for tub to prove he could win the sec to hire him away. if mullen has an 8 or 9 win season he'll get opportunities. the question is will they be big enough to move him? who knows cause i have no idea where mullen's heart is. fedora is a big 12 guy and he out of hattsb for any decent big 12 job. is there is level between msu and say fla,tn,lsu, uga. depends on who you ask i guess. but my money says neither guy is around ms in 14
