Offense will be better in 2016

With Towles leaving, Drew gets most of the 1st team reps in spring and fall. If he stayed they would be splitting reps which doesn't help either. Next year the line has to be better because it can't be worse. We don't lose any RBs or impact WRs. Dawson will have 1 year under his belt and we will prob have a new OL coach.

I didn't see anything from Barker to prove to me that he was significantly better than Towles. He has accuracy issues like Towles had, isn't as big or as fast as Towles, and doesn't have the arm talent that Towles had. Obviously he has the offseason to improve and he's a freshman, but there's a lot of work he needs to do. Here's to hoping he puts it together.

Hopefully Leavitt can come in and be adequate at LT. Toth will be fine at C. Hope GAA moves inside to RG because he's probably better suited as a guard. RT and LG remain big question marks for me.

WRs were probably the most disappointing part of the team for me. I thought they would be top 5 at their position group in the SEC and they turned out to be one of the worst. Juice is alright, but Badet/Baker drop passes way too much and Baker plays like he doesn't care most of the time. Hopefully the receivers that we redshirted this past season make an impact.

RB will be fine as long as Boom/Kemp stay healthy. Horton is a significant drop off from those two, and that showed pretty clearly against UL. Maybe a freshman RB (or King) can make an impact next year.

Conrad has to be involved in the passing game more next year. There's absolutely no reason why a guy as talented as him shouldn't be involved more in our passing attack.

Is there anything that I said that doesn't sound accurate?
Everything you said is accurate, but there plenty of reasons to believe that the offense would have improved from 14 to 15 and it didn't. So, while on paper, we are looking better, there's no guarantee of anything at this point with this team.

At best it gets a little better.

Fire Schlarman, Mainord, and Dawson and it could get a lot better.

O line gave Barker all kinds of time last night, didn't help. What next?

R/Backs will be fine next year, W/R is the issue, they never have any separation. Need intermediate routes, slants, bubble screens and an occasional long ball. Dawson said he has never used a tight end very much, that is very much of a problem.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. This is the exact same crap we hear every single year. "Next year we'll be better because so-and-so will be back, this group will improve - can't get any worse, this FR will really shore up this group...". Oh my God!! It's not going to be better just because we're a year older. Surely to God this year proved that adage wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt. We're not better this year and several of our key players are, in fact, one year older. In fact, it's hard not to argue that several of our key players have actually gotten worse after another year in the program.

Our OL is pitiful and I don't expect it to be any better than 12th in the SEC next year - at best. Our DL was repeatedly gashed this year and it's, what, supposed to magically improve just because the calendar moves? Our WRs as a group couldn't catch cold but NEXT YEAR they'll be just grand?

Nobody wants UK to have a good football program more than me but, my goodness, you people would buy ice in Alaska. We're not going to be good next year - under any circumstances. The schedule is much, much harder. We still don't know if we have a decent QB. Our OL and DL will be, grouped together, probably the worst in the SEC. Our LB will be young, unproven and, most likely, coached very poorly. Our WRs will not magically catch more balls next year. Our OC will not utilize the one guy on the team who seems to have a mismatch quite often (Conrad). Our special teams will be one embarrassment after another. C'mon, people, get a grip on reality. We'll never get this thing going in the right direction if we accept that 'things will get better next year'. You know how many years I've said that watching this team? About 45 and counting. With only about 4 or 5 exceptions, it most certainly has NOT GOTTEN BETTER NEXT YEAR!

With the schedule we play, we'll be lucky to win 4 games next year.

Doubt it. The OL if improved will be bc it has freshman on it. That means a lot of mistakes will happen. Teams will likely confuse us with switches and movement.

QB- Barker has only played 2 games. Who knows what we have. There has to be a reason we didn't see him earlier. Maybe he surprises everyone but I'm not exactly pumped up.

WR- here's where the most improvement has to happen. Better route running, better catching, better blocking, everything. Down the stretch, the WR corp really struggled. Yikes, it was just bad.

RB- sure, right now we have everyone back but things happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Boom transfer.

Sure the offense could be better. Stoops could learn to coach, and Carrie Underwood could finally decide to divorce that husband and realize the love of her life is right here in Louisville Ky.

Not holding my breath though

If this was Dawson's offense then he needs to be replaced if Dawson and the players practiced AIR RAID all summer and fall and then when the season started or on Game Day Stoops took over and run whatever that offense was or Stoops took over in the second half of some games then he needs to back off and let Dawson Coach the offense.

^^^ This x 1M. It's never too early to pump some sunshine; only at Kentucky, you can't make this stuff up. To the OP "are you serious Clark?" LOL

Haha I would agree with you if we didn't have a guy in a clown suit calling the offense for us. Dawson is beyond dreadful.

Not with Barker behind center. Maybe Hoak can step in and play right away.

We don't know if we will lose any RB's or WR's at this point,it is probably 50/50 at best

Barker makes decisions much quicker, or seems to. But I agree that physically hes a big step down.

Agree the WR's ended up disappointing. Sad part was they started the season so strong. Seems like we had guys wide open all over the field all game long. Then suddenly, that just went away.

Horton shouldnt see the field until he solves his fumble problems. I understand RB's fumble, but hes ridiculous. Skilled runner, but you just cant put him on the field.

Agree on Conrad too.

I'm just not seeing it. Even if Barker improves, does he really have the arm or quickness to play QB in this league? His arm looks weak as hell and he's one of the slowest QB's when it comes to scrambling that I have seen at UK in a long while. Towles could at least make something happen with his legs when things fell apart. And though inaccurate, he did pose a deep ball threat. Barker brings neither of those attributes to the table.
