I'm upset right now but not because of Kentucky's terrible play. UK didn't play that bad; it's hard to play 5 on 8. UT got a couple lucky rebound bounces and the fouls not called on UK and other bad calls amounted to +10 points for UT.

I agree. Really didn’t think we played bad. Can’t see how you get into any offense the way they are letting it get called on one end and then touch fouls on the other. Disgusting
Why wouldn't they. Pope just bends over and doesn't say anything. You expect guys to run through a wall for a guy who just stands around squinting. He's a poor coach. Nice guy but not cut out for this level of competition as a coach.
It's obvious that Pope is trying to build depth on the roster, but there are just times where a player doesn't help complete the puzzle.
At this pace, we'll have our issues worked out by April, for sure.
We'll have 16 losses and be out of the NiT by then, but we'll be pretty good.
MD just needs to be told he will not play until he fixes his attitude. Whine about fouls-sit. Pout because you don’t get a pass you want-sit. Argue with a teammate-sit. If he fixes his mental approach, he can be a solid contibutor. Until then he is a negative.
I started to think this pattern was due to something inherent in Pope’s whole approach. But I looked back at a couple of his BYU seasons and did not see this pattern of getting way behind early and coming back second half.

Yeah without a doubt. We’re not very good but that half was blatant from the opening tip. Call after call VERY questionable with bunny hops being allowed and mugging on one end allowed but touch fouls on the other being called - not to mention taking AWAY not one, but TWO baskets.

The calls were seriously lopsided. Refs are garbage.

Went almost 8 minutes without a field goal. Sit Jasper Johnson for 6-8 minutes while he is playing his best half. People really going to blame the refs lol

We do know what the problem is. There were problem children on this team early on, and after they've worked themselves out of some playing time, the roster has begun to do the reshaping.
My issue is how the UT players are allowed to clear out in the paint.

I knew the Vols would play out of their minds. Picked Tennessee by 19 points I think in Old Reds contest. Saw this garbage coming. No way Barnes was going to allow a basketball game in Orangeville after the last few times we won there.

It was like that the entire game. This is the first time this year I felt like the officiating was clearly biased.
In Pope's defense.. the coach shouldnt have to berate the officials. The officials should just do their job right.
An argument can be made that Pope getting on the officials wouldnt matter anyways. Cal did that, and they punished him further. The NCAA doesnt want Kentucky to win, in a conference they hate, in a state they hate. They want either Duke/Kansas/UNC.. or they want the title to go through a big10 school because that conference much more aligns with them as "academics".
Anyone, and I mean anyone, that watched that half of basketball and didn’t see UK getting screwed from every angle is just plain blind. The refs can easily “equal out” the number of fouls called by calling one teams fouls when it doesn’t affect the game on non shooting fouls. UK was hosed out of about 12 points that half

Having to watch Pope commercials at half time hearing him say we do it for the name of the front of the jersey while down double digits makes all this so much better.
