Please use this thread for all pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussion of the 2025 Pinstripe Bowl competition between PSU and Clemson.

With opt outs, portal moves, interim coaches, etc., there's just too many variables, and unknowns, for me to offer any thoughts on the game. I'm just going to sit back and take it in.

Possition coaches and special teams coaches will be challenged today to effectively manage player participation, especially in critical, time sensative situations.

What depth? Most of the starters have opted out (or will only play a quarter) and a lot of the reserves have entered the transfer portal.

Yes we differ. I used to feel the way you do when they were amateurs, but if they want to be paid, they shouldn’t get to make the calls anymore. Volunteers can stop volunteering at any time. Workers getting paid to do a job aren’t allowed to quit without forfeiting their wages.

Simple answer to your last query is that the players are getting paid. Yes, it’s not pay for play but it’s a lot of money they’re making. Before NIL only the most hardline of fans had a problem with players opting out of meaningless bowl games. Now, it’s a different story with NIL. I personally have no problem with players opting out but I easily understand the contrary view.

And someone asked this question, why not opt out against Rutgers? How was this year’s Rutgers game any more important than today’s bowl game? I don’t have an answer to that.

To avoid this situation in the future one of two things must occur:
1. All those receiving NIL monies must play the full schedule, including bowl games, or return the NIL money.
2. Since bowl games are totally meaningless, ALL are canceled beginning next year except for those associated with the playoffs.

All teams are free to schedule the allotted number of "bowl game practices" including scrimmages with other teams.
