You have issues..... Much like Fraudklin, you want your QB running and eventually getting injured.
I don’t want him running all the time, but when he needs to pick up a first down, I think he needs to be able to do it. I can’t think of too many NC teams recently that haven’t had a QB that could run a little (or NFL teams for that matter). And that’s not called having issues, it’s called having an opinion. Do you have issues because you think limiting your team to only two options is better?

I’m worried the DL room gets hard to portal but there are a bunch of young guys I like. Kemajou, Blanding, Gilliam, Wafle, Harvey. Throw in Granville, pretty strong. Maybe need a depth piece or two in the portal.

I really hope we can keep Campbell and Rojas. Those two with Tatsche and Wylie? All of a sudden that room looks good again. Need a LB in the portal though.

Young secondary played great today. Dixon is an absolute stud and must keep. Lane, Mack, and ABS at safety is a deep core.

But why exactly do you think he cannot run for a 1st down when he has to? He has shown he can do this on several occasions. BUT, it is never designed runs or you risk losing him like they lost Allar. When the play breaks down he has shown that he certainly can pick up the necessary yards. The excellent trait he has, however, is that he does NOT panic, like Allar, he stands in the pocket, evades pressure very well, and looks to pass first. Failing that he has tucked it and run.

So, discuss the parameters of your expectation when a QB should run the ball. Surely, you do not mean designed runs to put him in harms way.

I think using a QB much like the Eagles used Hurts last year is good, or the Chiefs and Mahomes. Mixing in an occasional QB run or having a QB who can run makes the defense have to keep an eye on that. Only being able to run when you have 15 yards of open grass in front of you and then not doing it very well doesn’t keep the defense thinking about it. It’s just a personal preference…I don’t necessarily want a running QB, but a passing QB who has the ability to run is the way to go.

Grunk was probably told absolutely no running. The back up was Liam Clifford for f*ck sake.

As far as Grunk’s dual threat abilities, I don’t think we’ll know until next season.
He looked like he moved around the pocket fine to me. Running just gets you hurt.

Martin and Hayes look like they could be a very effective 1-2 punch.

I was also impressed with the OL play - 4/5 opt outs but Cousins/Shanahan/Donkoh could be a really solid core next year. I thought Boyer held up okay as well, just needs an offseason to bulk up.

If we keep Rapp/Reynolds, then the TE room is in really good hands. They complement each other much better than Dink.

Outside of Howard, we’re going to need to go portal heavy at WR. I know they liked a couple of the FR that didn’t play this year, but I’d imagine we get hit hard in that room to the portal.
Boyer got beat several times but it was by Clemson's 1st team ACC DE. Really not too bad for an OL with almost no game experience. He's a keeper.

Again, he can move in the pocket and scramble if he has to. They couldn't risk him getting hurt and being unable to play with Smolik out for the season and Clifford the emergency QB.

My college roommate informed me today that this is PSU’s first win as an underdog since 2021? Is that accurate? If so ,,, just wow

This...no happy feet with Grunk, his eyes stay downfield and he has a quick release.

Thank you coach Trautwein for putting together a solid OL unit for the bowl game. Hope it works out well for you at your alma mater.
PSU is going to miss Phil. Perhaps Matt C will have an epiphany, divide the OL coaching responsibilities and bring back Phil.

Tattoo boy doesn't impress me.

Nolan Rucci of all guys sitting out annoys me. Legacy and given a chance to resurrect his career at PSU and he bails

Must be a generational thing is all I can figure. How the **** can you go to a game healthy, don't have a multi-million dollar contract on the line, and stand around posing for pictures while your team is battling. ****** up value system.
