Also what does PSU have to lose at this point... Throw the ball. The offense has momentum, Grunk had been successful throwing the ball over the middle. Once again AK out thinks himself. I will be so happy when both coordinators and this coaching staff is gone.
WE need to get rid of AK and the $3 million wonder (Knowles) ASAP.

Watching Cignetti’s smug-a** comments has me hoping they get demolished very soon. The ridiculous ‘shorthanded’ comment aside, he’s in for a wake up call next year when he doesn’t have his veteran transfer team to lean on. What a douche.

What did he say?

It cracks me up that his self proclaimed signature win is vs a Penn St team reeling on a 6 game losing streak, with an interim coach, without their starting QB and without maybe it s most important defensive player. Without Mendoza IU loses by double digits.

What did he say?

Whole ***-load of arrogant sh*t - asked before the game about Indiana never winning in Beaver Stadium he said ‘this team hasn’t played here yet.’

Yeah, I never, never pull for OSU or Michigan but might have to in this year's Indiana - OSU game. I just vomited after saying that. Can't stand that smug - arrogant a-hole. Cig-Indiana obviously has never heard the expression "act like you've been there before." He a total d-bag
His transfer portal guys are graduating this year, and whoever he offers next year will have other
coaching staffs right behind him.

He was told to slide, but he remembered too late…should Franklin have had it tattooed on the RB’s hands? You can tell players something a million times and they sometimes forget in crunch time…it happens and if you don’t think it does, you’ve obviously never coached before.
He was too busy signing that cute card the guys were holding up on the sideline. That's the cancer that lack of discipline from a HC leads to.

Quite a few of us have been pointing this out since he got here: he refuses to engage with the proven modern concept of offensive football: throw first to setup the run.

His schemes are designed almost exclusively around RPO, and the passing routes are quick outs to the sidelines, often at or even behind the line of scrimmage.

Opposing defenses know that Penn State doesn't throw over the middle of the field, and they know that they don't throw mid or deep routes. That's why they stack the line of scrimmage and play man-coverage.

You see what happened today: when we started using an aggressive passing attack, we erased a 13-point deficit and took the lead. Then Kotelnicki, like a pouting child, refused to acknowledge what was working, and went back to his ultra-conservative garbage, and we lost.

:36 ticks on the clock, we got Reynolds running a short out-route for a 5-yard pickup. Next down we have Singleton take a toss that actually went backwards, and should have kept the clock running, but the refs blew the call.

At no point did they try to get a meaningful amount of yardage that would move them into field goal range. That's what's frustrating: not that they lost, but that the play-calling didn't even give them a chance.

That's great and all ... but it's not accurate.

AK's biggest problem in the passing game was that most of his routes were long and long-developing ... and often bunched ... often with rubs/picks downfield.

He wouldn't use short-intermediate routes as much as he should have.

He'd use at/behind LOS screens and dumps and he'd use long-developing downfield patterns ... and since Grunk took over, he used the LOS passing game more ... but the suggestion that the deep game was missing is silly. It was part of the problem.

What was largely missing was crossers, drags, wheels, seams in space, etc. The 5-15 yard passing game was either missing or poorly conceived.

But he has trained this team to play afraid - institutionalized it…and this can’t be erased overnight.
Exactly. That's why they came back with 17 unanswered to take the lead late in the game after being down to the #2 team in the nation ... because of Franklin, and of their "institutionalized" fear.

MacNit should be institutionalized.

The thing that many seem to have lost is that we couldn’t run out the clock. Taking knees would mean that Indiana gets the ball back down 1.

There's no room for facts, logic and reason when there's Franklin bashing to be had.

These are the kinds of folks who trip over their own feet on the sidewalk and blame the crack that isn't there for doing it to them.

Ah ... that guy's just a disaster. There's obviously something not right there ... drugs? Some kind of actual disorder/defect? Whatever it is, the dude isn't all there.

I was already pretty worked up about the game and when he came off so douchey on the field after I immediately shut it off. First thing I thought was the same thing, and it’s probably coming the first weekend of December.

Right. This is what compounds the frustration: everyone can see the problem! You got Ham on the radio begging them to throw a mid-range pass over the middle of the field. And like you said here: they have nothing to lose by playing aggressive.

Even when Grunk threw the pick earlier in the game, I immediately said, "I'd rather have him make that mistake than have ultra-conservative play-calling that makes it clear they're scared to screw up and so they're not even going to try."

How many times have we seen it -- not just this year, but over Franklin's entire tenure -- Penn State in a 3rd-and-long situation and they throw a pass for 2 yards. I've never seen any other program run moronic plays like that with such consistency. Throw to the stick!

Did I say that the design of the deep routes is good?

No. No, I did not.

And nothing you said contradicted what I said, so...
