I believe you are under estimating the wide popularity of the Eagles. My cover band plays a lot of gigs for many demographics....they ALL love our Eagle covers.
The NFL has made it clear with recent half time shows that they want to bring in more non football fans for bigger ratings. The demographic is more like 13-25 year old women than 65 year old men. The latter are already tuning into the game so there is no point bringing in the Eagles.

Are they not smart enough to realize these people they’re trying to attract just watch the halftime show and not the game?

First, ratings are ratings. I’m sure their marketing team knows what they are doing.

second, how do you know that a portion of those viewers don’t watch at least parts of the game?

you can disagree with the NFL for doing it but that doesn’t change the fact that their half time demographic is clearly not older men.

Cool. They are part of the 0.01% of teenagers that even know who they are.
Yep....my granddaughters are super....they excel in everything they do...top grades....music.....athletics...you name it. But I do understand the NFL need to attract a younger audience who either don't show an interest in sports or who seem to enjoy soccer.

Pretty much a boring game as you never got the feeling NE's offense could challenge Seattle. Even at 19-7 you did not sense a heroic comeback was coming.

A couple comments:

-Why were so many talking heads predicting NE to win? I think they thought Drake Maye was the second coming of Tom Brady and Sam Darnold was destined to throw 3 picks.

-Really hope this puts a quick end to any notion that the Cheatriots will return to some kind of juggernaut for the next decade.

-It would have been a much better game with the Bills in it who were jobbed on that ridiculous int call. I think they beat the Cheatriots in the AFC championship. Then the Cheatriots catch the next lucky break with Nix getting hurt. Maye was not ready for the big stage.

Seattle has the team that could repeat but I doubt they do. Their defense is legit.

The NFL would love to chip into the soccer market considering it’s the most watched sport in the world. With all the international games these days, the NFL is pretty much trying to become soccer.

They had Usher two years ago and Snoop Dogg and Eminem two years before that…they’re not exactly youngsters.

Another artist that has a rapidly growing audience and would be a great halftime show gig is Billy Strings. I've been to one of his concerts at Bryce Jordan......his audiences are very diverse. And he's phenomenal.

Watching the Alternative halftime show. The wife is a big country music fan. She read some of Big Bunny's lyrics and said no thanks.
She's a big fan of this, though (courtesy of Kid Rock's vocal stylings) ...

On my cell phone, I'm paid, G
Can't call me, just page me
(Daddy, yeah)
Young ladies, young ladies
I like 'em underage, see
Some say that's statutory
But I say it's mandatory

… Cruising through town in my jacked up truck
Eyes open 'cause I'm scopin for a big butt slut
One that I can take straight back to my house
And have suck my d**k and put my b*lls in her mouth

… But before I could she go grabbed my d**k
Licked her lips and started talking that porno ****
She said "look here I know our kid rock"
Then whispered in my ear "I want to swallow your c**k"

… Well blow me up then blow me down
'Cause I think I just found the biggest freak in town
And now I can't wait to get her back to my house
Set her on her knees and put my b*lls in her mouth

He’s a fantastic musician and I would much rather see him than anyone from recent memory. Still don’t think he is the demographic though. Not pop enough.

You're right.....most people can't recognize talent. One thing about Billy....he can and does crossover to rock quite often. He's a huge Black Sabbath fan. He played in a heavy metal band in his teens.

Once again......we DID NOT watch Kid Rock....was only interested in the country artists.

+1. Yea I haven't been the target audience for a very long time. I never thought much about it until some lost their minds over this one.

They dramatically shifted after The Who. McCartney, petty, stones, Prince, The Who and then black eyed peas, Madonna, Beyoncé…

Yeah, it’s one of the strangest things grown men get upset about. It’s 15 minutes during the climax of the football season. Go enjoy a concert on a different day.

Check out the lyrics in English to one of the songs performed at halftime tonight....the title is "Safaera". I'm sorry, if I'm an prude for believing this is inappropriate, than I'm an prude.

The clearly MANIPULATED feaux outrage is cute though. The only people I know personally who were triggered by that show all have things in common. None are good traits or looks.

BTW Ricky Martin killed it, dude can still sing.

He's not and he also has a large subsection of his diehards that are probably not the element the NFL is looking to attract.

Strings is one of my favorite artists, but I still wouldn't watch him perform at halftime of the "Big Game."

They already are. Many of not most of the MLS owners are also NFL owners.

I don’t think they want Billy speaking his mind in English. If you’re a real fan of his you know where he stands as he doesn’t hide it. Last night was just fine and you’re never going to get people to agree on a single performer. If your demographic is already watching the NFL isn’t trying to capture your eyes as this is a marketing event for them, but somehow people cannot figure this out. This snowflake fake outrage over a performance annually is becoming a joke.

Tgar loves the Eagles. He has seen them live across the span of 53 years many times. First show, WFIL ( 560 on your AM dial )Helping Hand weekend shows in Philly at the Spectrum, last show a couple of years ago at the beginning of the farewell tour at PPG. The only person getting high at PPG was Tgar. Many folks were walking with canes.

The halftime show has become a production. Maybe they could pull that off with the Eagles, maybe not. Having been to the Sphere to see Dead and Company where the Eagles currently are doing their farewells, The Video screen of the Sphere is the show.

Would love to see the Eagles as a halftime show and nod to the Older fans that watch every year but doubt it will ever happen. It’s more likely to be some K Pop phenomenon or Harry Styles and Dua Lipa.
