Things are shaping up to be interesting this year, and in to next season/off season.
Texas and LSU kicked it off this season, but those sagas really had an anti climatic end. Tom Herman and Big Ed might be great, but I thought for sure both would try and make plays for bigger names. Why neither made a big swing at Chip Kelly is head scratching.
Oregon looks like it may come open, which may lure McElwain away, he is from the pacific northwest, born in Montana, played at Eastern Washington, coaching stops at Eastern Wash, Fresno St, Oakland, Montana St, CSU...
Notre Dame and Kelly may split.
Then you have Butch Jones in a slightly uncomfortable position at UT having just lost to Vandy. What if the Vols get rolled in their bowl game? UK is not going to be a pushover much longer, UGA will get back on track, Commodores are always a dog fight. Vols could easily win the east next year, but they could just as easily go 3-5 in conference.
Let's not forget about little ole Houston out there. I'm a big proponent of that job and think it should be a destination for top young coaches looking to move up as opposed to going to some bottom feeder P5 and having a tough road. PJ Fleck, Neal Brown, Jeff Brohm, etc all these young guys waiting for an offer need to go beat down the Cougars door. Instead of struggling to get .500 at Purdue or BC, you can get to 10 wins and never have to leave the city to recruit. Hell, would be perfect for set up for Sark to make a come back, his shot is still probably a year or two a way though, still has some dues to pay.
