By no means am I clamoring back on the wagon after a one point win at LSU, and I think with everything that has happened, IT'S TIME, but...

For all the **** he gets on this board and elsewhere, I thought I should give the guy his due. Benock - I thought - played a hell of a game.

And while I'm inviting flamage, I'll also say it looked like the "motion" offense actually had a little motion today. At least by comparison to usual.

Baby Huey was active today on both ends.

I may be crazy, or lulled to sleep by our usual effort, but there seemed to be some fight in us today. Too bad they seem to be unable to string two or more gutsy efforts in a row.

Agreed on Benock, he really played well.

I think my biggest problem with this team is that even when they win, I still don't like watching them play. They're just so fundamentally awful, that it is not even enjoyable to watch. Case in point, we had a two point lead midway through the second half and had 6 or 7 opportunities in a row to stretch the lead, and we turned it over at least 4 of them and took bad shots the other 2 or 3 trips. I can't imagine pulling for this group in any game if they didn't have Mississippi State on their uniforms. For example, being from Macon, Georgia, it's pretty easy for me to cheer for UGA in a game against anyone but us. They hustle their butts off and play pretty sound basketball; however, I would probably negatively judge anyone who said they liked this MSU group or thought they played well, if they were not already a MSU fan.

But there were moments when I just said, "Oh crap" and clicked over to another channel.

This team isn't a team, yet. Painful to watch.

stepped is game up today. Kodi played with missing tooth which shows toughness and Sidney played well today. Although its LSU, we had some guys step up.

I can hardly watch an MSUgame without wanting to break something. However, if you watch just about every SEC team play it is almost exactly the same. The level of basketball being played in the SEC right now is awful. There is no consistency by anyone other than Alabama. Georgia is 5-4. UK is 4-4. South Carolina is 4-4. Arkansas is 4-5. Ole Miss is 3-5. One night a team can look pretty good and the next they look like a SWAC team.

Kodi and Benock have really impressed me this season. Kodi's whole attitude has changed.... probably due to the fact that he is getting more playing time. Playing with a tooth knocked out and not shying away takes some grit. Last year I cringed whenever Benock shot the ball.... but I feel completely comfortable leaving it in his hands now. He has really stepped up when needed.

I live in Atlanta and went to the UGA State game, and it was ugly. In all phases. I've been a fan of Fox, the way he coaches and the way his teams play from the INSTANT he got on campus. Great hire. But even Stans' best teams never had a crisp offense. What Stans' best teams DID do, however, is hustle, rebound and play in-your-face defense. And while it is no surprise to see the stand and look stupid offensive approach YET AGAIN, it is beyond the pale to see NO effort to rebound (except for Kodi), NO effort on D (except for maybe Dee and Riley), and no hit the floor scrappiness that has defined MSU basketball at its best.

While not all back by any stretch, I saw at least some of that yesterday. Even from some of the worst offenders (Sidney). I've said many times, I could forgive losing if the teams were playing balls out and gutsy team basketball. All we had been seeing is lazy efforts on the court, and ******** off of it. But we had Dee who has absolutely played hard and with guts since he got back. He got the **** knocked out of him Wednesday, got his teeth knocked out and apparently has a bum achilles.

Kodi got a damn tooth knocked out DURING the game and came back and played like nothing happened. Riley stepped up not only on D, but hit big shots. And lastly, Sid played the game the way he HAS to to be successful and for the team to be successful.

To me, all that means precisely JACK **** if they can't string efforts like that in two, three, four game stretches. Let's see some consistency with that kind of effort. Otherwise it's meaningless. All I'm saying is I liked seeing those things back in the game for a change.

But to your critiques of fundamentals: no doubt. It's just that it isn't anything new.

That's my opinion. You posted what you did so I guess you would know. But it's a hard one for me to buy. Give us the rest of the story.
