Wow, Bobby Bowden has spoken at Jackson FCA many times I think and has close

ties with FCA in Mississippi. No good deed goes unpunished.

Why hasn't anyone blown away the "state funds" part of that argument yet? MSU athletics is a profit center that gives money back to the university. Without athletics, we'd need more tax dollars for the university to maintain the same level of service.

No, they didn't... They said that HottyToddy.com beat them to the story...

And did the investigative work for them to then use and pass off as journalism... They really are the worst...

Okay ..

Why hasn't anyone blown away the "state funds" part of that argument yet? MSU athletics is a profit center that gives money back to the university. Without athletics, we'd need more tax dollars for the university to maintain the same level of service.

And would add ... "Why hasn't anyone blown away the "First Amendment to the United States Constitution ... Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

As long as all religious conduct is voluntary, this is a 'non-starter.'

I've always wondered how they got away with chaplains and what-not.

I don't disagree though. And I say that as a Christian. Mississippi is probably the biggest offender when it comes to involving religion with public policy.

The CL would be doing themselves a favor if they disallowed people to comment on that article.

The MSU baseball chaplain, Matt Jolley, is a good friend of mine. He actually helps organize my crew for tailgate setups (no, I don't employee baseball players). He's a great guy.

I called him about this when I saw the article. He said he's not paid/employed by the university at all. I'm assuming its a non-issue.

This is what I was wondering. I've known some pastors who have worked in campus ministries and they were paid by private fund raising. As long as the players aren't required to participate in FCA, then this is a non-issue.
