the consensus of self-proclaimed pay board insiders (primarily UF, UGA, Ark, and Bama) seems to be boiled down to this:

"Another shoe will drop that will tie this to an AU coach and 3 others associated with AU."

"Look for Auburn to distance themselves from Cecil and what he might have done."

"We expect Cecil to attack ESPN and/or NYT for slander/libel, but the focus will be on UF for leaking the cheating info."

"Wow! The NCAA fired a shot across Auburn's bow with their statement that serious ramifications may result if they play Cam and he is later deemed ineligible."

"I fully expect a total house cleaning of the AU football staff."

Have not seen the NCAA say that. Where is that?

I believe those consequences to be true, and I've been saying that myself. But it would be cool if the NCAA did come out and say that.

Speaking in general terms and not on the Newton story, Stacey Osburn of the NCAA responded in an e-mail that "the solicitation of cash or benefits by a prospective student-athlete or another individual on his or her behalf is not allowed under NCAA rules."

Timing is interesting that Oklahoma gets some apparent secondary recruiting violations just a couple of months after Cam goes to Auburn. Coordinator was apparently going to go to Yale but that fell through from what I can tell.
Also, can't find anything on the ap about it - link is dead. Just wondering if there's any smoke there.
