In 2010, we averaged 54,999.29/game. Say $40/ticket. That is a total of $2,199,971.60/game. times 7 home games is $15,399,801.20 total for the season

In 2009, we averaged 53,792/game. Say $40/ticket (even if they were lower). That is a total of $2,151,680/game. times 7 home games is $15,061,760 total for the season.

In 2008, we averaged 43,452.67/game. Say $40/ticket (even if they were lower). That is a total of $1,738,106.80. times 6 home games is $10,428,640.80 for the season.

So, you are talking about an increase in JUST TICKET SALES REVENUE of $4,971,160.40 in 2010 versus 2008 and of $4,633,119.20 in 2009 versus 2008. That does not include parking, concessions, ADVERTISING, any other game day income from apparel, gift shops, other on campus food, money brought to Starkville.

Also, not to mention, we are talking of adding another 10,000+ to the stadium to just to bring in more butts. That would be$5,171,188.80 over 2008.

Also, my question would be "Are we finished paying off Sly Croom?" Because if we are not, that money that we have been doling out should go directly to Mullen.

Also, CAN YOU BELIEVE PEOPLE TALK BAD ABOUT OUR FANS???? WE AVERAGED 43,452.67 TO SEE CROOMS' TEAM???????

Edited to add the totals for the season.... Thanks 615dawg

Over $3.2 million in ticket revenue increases from the last year of the Croom Error, when we were coming off of a bowl season.

We have to be smart about it. I think $2.1 million with bonus opportunities to get to $3 MM is good, because in a couple years, I have a feeling we are going to have to pay the man again.

but with Miami maybe breathing down his neck, I think 2.5 w/ incentives is what we should shoot for.

He is probably making 2 million this year with all of his incentives.

what should the incentives be?

goal/pay

Games won = $?
Beating OM = $?
End of season rank = $?
Bowl (and bowl tier) = $?
SEC West champ = $?
SEC champ = $?
Nat Champ = $?

So, say his salary is $2.5mil. How much could he end up with?

9+ wins = $100,000
Beating Ole Miss = $0 - we are never losing to them again.
End of Season Top 25 = $50,000
End of Season Top 10 = $100,000
Graduation Rate Top 25% Nationally = $50,000
Graduation Rate Top 10% Nationally = $100,000
Bowl Game = $50,000
NYD Bowl Game (Cotton, Capital One, Outback, Peach, Gator) = $25,000 additional
BCS Bowl Game = $250,000
Divisional Championship = $100,000
SEC Championship = $250,000
National Championship = $500,000

So, with a base of $2.5 mil, he would have earned $75,000 in bonuses with $150,000 riding on this game with Michigan.
A 1998 type season would be $225,000 in bonuses
A 1999 type season would be $225,000 in bonuses

A 10-2 season with an SEC Championship would be $800,000 in bonuses
A 14-0 season with a National Championship would be $1.3 million in bonuses.

"He's going to have fairly significant bonuses this year," athletics director Scott Stricklin said. "Which is good; I like that. I think it's healthy to have good incentives built into your contract."

is that the bulk of Dan's money, as with the baseball and basketball head coaches, is paid by the Bulldog Foundation. While increased revenue from ticket sales,SEC TV revenueetc. is great, that all goes to the Athletic Department, the Foundation receives none of it.

In order for theFoundation to pay the salary increases for all head coaches, it must receive additional private funding (read that donations). The bottom line, the only way the Foundation will be able to increase what it pays to Dan and the other head coachesis for us all to contribute more and more money to the Bulldog Club and the Foundation. This isn't a "they" need to do something deal, it's a "we" need to do something.

I would hope he feels there is a little more than just the money to think about ... I know that other schools would have eventually found and hired him, but it was us ... and that has to be worth something

and I think right now Mullen's worth on the open market is probably greater than Nutt's. I certainly don't see anyone beating down Nutt's door to hire him. Personally I would love to see it where the base would be around 2 - 2.2 and then make the incentives where he could get near 3.0. That way, if for some strange reason we start flopping, you are not so locked into a contract you can't afford if things on the field are not going as well as you had hoped. If we continue to do like this year or better over the next few years then paying 2.5-3.0 million should be doable for us especially with the new SEC money that's suppose to be coming in. Of course, the other factor, is we will need some extra money to up the pay for our assistant coaches as well. If we raise up Mullen too far too fast there may not be a lot leftover to make sure we keep guys like Diaz, Wilson, Hevesy, Balis, Koennig, etc. And that is also key to our program progressing.

Thats what I would do. Release every detail of this and dare anyone else to top it. Give him a base of $2.25M with $1-1.25M achievable through easy steps and there are not many programs out there that can outbid for it.

Then, its truly in his boat of "do you want to be here or not" versus allowing these other programs to sweet talk him with things other than money...

but to just give the farm away after going 13 and 11 does not compute ... I'm as excited as anyone to have him as our coach, but it seems to me that everyone wants to pay him like he is an established veteran of many seasons ... good business demands just a little more proof and I think the other schools that are capable of paying him the amounts yall are talking about will have the same assesment as I just stated ... (having said that, I hope we dont lose him this quickly )

If I'm upper-middle tier school, or an upper tier in a time of financial/athletic turmoil (e.g., Miami football), I'm less interested in a coach already making want I want to offer. Take away the pay discrepancy and the likes of Minnesota don't even bother asking.

That list tells me that if you've got a guy you want to keep you need to be paying him in the neighborhood of 2-2.5 million/year or somebody else will.
