How did the people who went to the game like the band doing the dog pound rock? During practice this week I was a little skeptical about how the fans would like it, but it seemed like it went over well. Any thoughts?

and I got a kick out of it. Not something I'd like to see every week, but it was fun for today.

The FMB has so many other areas that need improvement that doing the DPR should be waaaaaaayyy down the list.

And by the way, if you could tell the ROTC to stick that cannon up their *** I would appreciate it.

The idea was ok, but the problem was that it wasn't done with a lot of preparation. We put it in this week, and I think the fact that we were all standing in lines across the whole field made it feel kinda staged, which it was. A lot of people in the band don't have passion for football. That's part of what makes it look bad is that for it to look good, you have to get into it. I got into it, just because I get really hyped for football games, but if you just kinda half *** it, like 3/4 of the band did, it looks like it did today.

and I was forced into doing the DPR in 1999 with the band, so I feel your pain. But, personally, I don't like the band doing it.

That said, I do appreciate the fact that Mrs. Lance is at least trying something different to get the crowd into it.

It just didn't come off that well, and sometimes that happens.

I'm telling you, if the band took my suggestions about playing in the stands- talk to LSU's band director, because it's pretty much the same thing that they do- it would help SO much with everything from the pre-game to the haltime show, as well as in the stands.

Back then we all did it. Cheerleaders, band, fans ... everybody. It was okay because we were winning. Now, not so much.

....like the band jumping up and down in the stands while the dawgzillatron plays zombie nation. I wish the crowd would get more into that. Hell, even the football team knows to jump up and down to that. Somebody should give our cheerleaders a clue. They could probably get it going.

I was a student when the MMMMMM.....SSSSSSSS.....UUUUUUUU cheer started. Oddly enough, it was the cheerleaders who figured out a way to get ALL the students to do that. Once 1/4 of the stadium was doing it, everybody else started doing it. And now its a standard cheer.

It is bad, no matter if the members of the band are into it or not. It has nothing to do with how long you practiced or how many people in the band give a damn about football. It is just bad. The only band that should dance, did so during the first game of the year.

Get rid of everyone who doesn't love MSU football, and practice 2 hours a day instead of 1. That will leave only the dedicated people and get rid of the useless extras clogging up the band not making it better.

I appreciate any effort by the band to get more involved, but doing the DPR doesn't work. Football team? Awesome. Band? Not so much.

I think we look stupid when we DPR and then go onto the field and
a. turn it over on first play from scrimmage
b. face mask the **** out of the return guy
c. allow an immediate 35 yard return

Reserve the DPR for late kickoff in games that are well on their way to victory.
Then, when we are badass team in a couple of years, open up with it.
that is if you just have to do it. Personally, right now, I am not so sure its a good thing.

Cause what you suggested sounded much better than what we do now and it might work considering that you are ex-band. Something has to change though. The band is either, a) not playing and just sitting on their *** .. or b) playing something terrible/too quiet/at the completely wrong time.

have the cheerleaders have a hot bikini contest and everyone could text their vote, B1, B2, and so on. Now THAT would be an entertaining halftime. I guess concession sales would drop drastically, though.</p>

Good: It was different. My main complaint is that the band seems to just march in big squares that get larger and smaller. So, it was different, and that is appreciated.

Bad: Watching some fat *** band geeks try to do the dawg pound rock was pretty sad. I guess it could have been really funny. And that would be OK.

Overall, --- sure. Keep doing something different and maybe we will hit on something one day.

Almost as bad as having an announcer that has to ask the crowd to spell out "MSU." You would think that, by now, our fans could handle that without the prompting.

Then you will have more room to do crazy **** like that. I have been waiting for a chance to rip on our band for sucking. Finally you gave me the platform.

Go watch Alabama's band or LSU's band for a good pregame/halftime show.
