I know that Texas and OK haven't really been involved in the SEC expansion talks. I'm sure someone can help me here. What's holding that up? They seem to be a logistically favorable fit. Why the hell would they prefer PAC10 over SEC?

MSU and Tsun are even worse . Additionally, they are a very liberal student body, and fit more politically with the Pac 10. A&M on the other hand, is very conservative with a military history. At this point, they are looking for anyone to let them keep the Lhorn network. I believe the Pac 10 commish has said no to that as well. They also think that now if they come begging to the SEC, they will lose "street cred" for being better than A&M. It's an EGO thing.

seem to think, for what it's worth, that it's recruiting and ego-based - Texas in particular if it has to go somewhere will look toward the west for a recruiting advantage, w/ better access to California, etc. and b/c Texas won't want to go to a conference stacked w/ schools like Bama and LSU b/c they want to be somewhere where they have a chance to be a dominating force. The deal I heard about how the Longhorn Network might play into it is, the PAC 10 was already setting up their own regional network(s) and the Longhorn Network might be able to survive in some form as a "PAC 10" network. Take it for what it's worth.

Academics is probably a part of it, but the real reason Texas doesn't want any part of the SEC is they don't want the competition and they know the SEC won't even begin to put up with their ********.
