Anyone got any scoop on this Sports Illustrated piece coming out that is supposed to decimate Oklahoma State?

I'm listening to the Dan Patrick show

He is about to interview some reporter for Sports Illustrated to find out "how bad this could be for OSU"

On the surface, looks like they will be hammered. Just depends on the size of the hammer.

Meanwhile Freeze is in his office laughing to himself and thinking OSU is a bunch of amateurs for getting caught.

Anyone see that awesome apology from their AD?

It was basically "Sorry for what's about to happen (but not what happened in the past. Beautiful CYA speak). This makes us all look bad. I'm really trying to drag everyone in the conference down by association, here. One of T. Boone's PR interns wrote this for me. Again, sorry we got caught."

oh, and one of the "Orange Pride" is speaking out. Says she never did anything wrong.
Complete with cross in the background for peak implied innocence.

But wait, there's more!

More bad news for MackBrown & Texas: Larry Porter, now a UT asst, is alleged to have paid players in SI expose. As is WVU's Joe DeForest.

Surely not a prestigious university such as the University of Texas. After all, they have higher standards than those SEC schools.

So.. 12 years ago OkSt was paying players? Mmmmmkay.

The NCAA can't competently investigate matters from 12 weeks ago if nobody talks. Good luck with this one.

Allow me to get in a pre-emptive "the bears got lucky and the NCAA will let them slide while focusing on Ok St. Those 17ers could **** in a swinging bucket."

Post game cash is not new(even a decade ago it wasn't new) or unique to OSU. I'd be surprised if anything comes of it.

So its Okie State's turn in the barrel.....

I am convinced that this type of thing is a fixture in college football. I am also convinced that the NCAA does not intended to stop it but just wants to curb it in certain places. Unfortunately we seem to be on that list.

I will forever be a die hard State fan but the older I get the more disillusioned and disgusted I get with this side of big time college football. Not just from the blatant hypocrisy and increasingly overt institutional cheating but also from the clear inequity as to how programs are treated. Definitely makes it increasingly difficult to enjoy and get into the sport.

"...but the vast majority of the players used the extra cash to purchase everyday items — food, clothing, tickets to a movie. “There were some athletes who were almost starving,” says Carter. “Wherever the money came from, they were like, Yeah, I’ll take that.”

This quote is one of the most preposterous things I've ever read. The amount of food that these players get is astonishing. It's available in any quantity 24 hours a day.

Most college students would kill to have a fraction of the food that the athletes get on a daily basis.

It kills any credibility the article may have had.

Is this the same Larry Porter that was thought to be such an amazing recruiter at LSU prior to his debacle of a head coaching job at Memphis? If so, why does this not surprise me?

Fred Ross made a very good decision.

This looks like it is gonna be a rough ride for the cowboys no pun intended.

Okla. St.'s getting hammered because OU is ********

They're getting hammered for the same reason Texas A&M, Auburn, and Mississippi State got hammered in the past decade or two- they made the so-called "flagship" rivals their little bitches. When Sherrill hung 5 wins in a row on the TeaSips in the 1980's, Texas put on a full-court press to get them on probation.

When The Mississippi State University was dominating the university of ole miss in the 1990's and later from 2005-11, those prissy self-absorbed alcoholic latent-homosexual pricks found little petty chickenshit things to hang on OUR University.

The University of Auburn War Eagles won 6 in a row against Alabama University- at least they broke the bank and hired the best college coach in the country, instead of trying to find some scandal like they tried in the 1980's when Pat Dye totally turned the Iron Bowl rivalry around.

Oklahoma Swooners are bent because OSU has T.Boone Pickens money and is now a major player.

If you don`t think T Boone has enough political stroke to get to the NCAA you are naive.
