but is their national following large enough to overcome the fact that they have no TV market?

I think GT and Miami are the brass rings here. Maybe VT gets you some market share, too.

1. Isn't Nebraska leaving for the Big 10 to get away from Texas?
2. Why wouldn't Okla State wait for the rest of the Big 12 South schools before joining the PAC-10.
3. Would the Pac-10 risk getting Okie State and not Oklahoma?

already get their share of eyeballs on TV sets in those markets. Virginia Tech would open up entirely new markets.

Not necessarily Texas, but a non-even financial agreement that ironically Nebraska lobbied for when they were good in football. Unlike the SEC, where everyone gets the same share, Texas has been getting stinking rich in the BCS era with all of their BCS games, a national title and a couple Final Fours.

It seems like Oklahoma would rather be in the SEC than the Pac 16.

OU to the SEC makes as much sense as Nebraska to the Big 10. Nebraska isn't in some population center either, but they like OU have a national following.

...And the surrounding areas would be huge considering the SEC is nowhere near that territory. There are OU fans all over Texas and in Dallas.

The conference wouldn't be picking up much in atlanta and florida with what they already have. And what does the metropolitan area of blacksburg give you?

I would guess that20% of Oklahoma's alumni base is in the DFW Metroplex. They will pull the Dallas TV market.

I'm not really clued in on OU's alumni base, but I've heard there are a lot of followers in Dallas and No. Tx generally, which is why they always play the Red River Shootout there.<div>
<div>OU would be a coup business-wise for the SEC. For MSU, it blows. The only expansion I want to see is Baylor, maybe Houston, maybe Prairie View, yeah, that's the ticket.</div></div>
