I have worked that game numerous times in years past and you knew it was going to be big time and one heck of a battle. I hate to see old rivalries like this not be what they once were. Not like it used to be....which is sad!
I don't agree with that statement Mount airy played pretty horribly. And there were some legitimate terrible calls. Especially by the side judge on the Mount airy side. As in not lining up a 7-men on the line of scrimmage when the lineman were clearly on the line of scrimmage. I think they did do a good job of taking away the outside against Mount airy just because they sent two guys out wide whichever direction they went. But some of the ridiculous calls that they made. Not to mention the coach on the starmount side line that said some unsavory words to the Mount airy kids that I witnessed. Yet they got the flag when they pointed to the scoreboard. That coach ought to have his butt in a sling. Regardless without some of that. Mount airy should have beat them quite a bit worse. Although I do agree starmount is probably one of the toughest tests they faced. They're not very good..I will throw my 2 cents in. I have seen Rams vs Mt Airy and listened to 2 Elkin games via radio. I believe Starmount wins in tough game because I believe Starmount is much better than the 43 to 0 Bear game would indicate. I said in a another thread the same thing. I believe this game will be a dog fight but I believe Starmount wins by 7. Notice I did not say "hope" they win, both have my respect and wish they could both win.
