that spot. I think RK only pleaded to the courts because he was good friends with Scruggs and Scruggs had given so much to the school. You cant tell me that if one of your top boosters was to do something stupid and get arrested that someone that was friends with him at State would just turn a blind eye? Im not saying he would fight for him, but I dont think RK fought all that hard either, and Im pretty sure he just wrote a letter asking for leniency (whether deserved or not). This situation also helps my argument though. If a bumch of kids were getting arrested for whatever, drugs, assault, etc., dont you think at least a few of them would be getting out at some point? There is no way to keep everything a secret and people talk. Im definitely not saying our kids are angels or anything, but the way you are talking they should all be convicted felons by now. I think things happen in Oxford just like they do just about everywhere else for athletes. People turn a blind eye to litle things and the big stuff gets publicized.

I'm going to take a different stance here. First of all, let me say that I am ashamed to be even participating in this thread.

OK, now as far as Oher and Powe- both were shady at best, if everyone here is honest. Now that said, I have no problem if MSU would do that from time to time. (You can say we do, and yes, I'm sure it has happened in the past, but I'm not getting in that pissing match) But, we'll get put on probation, you say. To me the problem here is not necessarily the shady recruiting, but the fact that no one in our admistration would do whatever it took to get those players in, and have the balls to tell Ole Miss, Bama, LSU, or whoever to <17> off if they turned us in because we know they do enough shady things to get put on probaiton to. All it takes is some balls and some creativity to get guys like Powe and Oher. The real reason we didn't do that was because A. he was all hung up on character and whatever else besides winning and B LT had no balls.

Now as far as the dreadlocks and tats thing- a LOT of football players have those. Heck Pernell McPhee has dreds, and probably tats, I can't tell from his picture and I've never seen him in person. Regardless, we have players that have both. So does everyone else. It's not that big of a deal. And let me say that I am happy that we are getting Pernell McPhee and his dreds.

If these types of things happen at MSU we are cheating and they are thugs, when it happens at Mississippi it is "heart warming"

There is absolutely no way to defend what Khayat did in asking for leniency in the sentencing of someone who tried to (and probably has successfully gotten away with it for years) bribe a judge. The fact that he is the Chancellor of a university system that boasts a law school makes it all the more despicable. This wasn't just someone who "was friends with him." And, for the record, I don't have a problem with all the other "indiscretions" mentioned in this thread.

Kind of like the Scruggs ordeal, he was a Saint until the truth came out. This isn't much different.

I mean that the reason he sent the letter had more to do with them being life long friends, I think they even went to school together. Not just that he was a donor to the school.

...I meant post Archie Manning era, beginning the era when OM actually had black players on the squad. So don't start @ 1965 so you can pad the stats.

Furthermore, for a school that likes to brag about how you have the 11th most bowl wins in history, your post Archie Manning bowl appearance history is mediocre.

Lastly, over the last 2 seasons, OM has been to a bowl & MSU has been to a bowl.

For this decade (including 2000) OM has been to how many more bowls that State?

You're the big **** football school, so your answer to that question should embarrass you.

My post was since we've had black players.

We've been to 4 bowls since 2000. MSU has been to 2.

You're really digging a hole here that you can't climb out of when comparing Ole Miss and MSU bowl records...both in number total, win total and how recent.
