Brandon Speck started the rumor then asks where it came from.Quality journalism there. If you can't find a story, make one up.

Brandon Speck started the rumor then asks where it came from while insinuating that it originated on MSU boards. Quality journalism there. If you can't find a story, make one up.

Sends an intentional subliminal message that is (at least on some small level) damaging to MSU in the eyes of the kid.

they say any good lawyer can manipulate a question to get the answer they want

Im sorry for posting this as drama this time of year is always at an all time high but this is ridiculous leave these kids alone quit starting these piece of **** rumors. These pro ole miss reporters kill me as they try to manipulate these kids and there recruitment.

http://blogs.clarionledger.com/recr...lks-about-de-commitment-rumors-recent-offers/

and that is pretty evident here. Speck says the State boards are saying Jones is decommitting . Where the 17 is he getting this from? He fails to quote any source as to where the rumors are coming from, excpet from the fact that it is in his best interest and agenda to create doubt for the Ole Miss fanbase. Then Talty references at the :56 second mark that Jones says the often used cliche "you never know what the future brings" as something of point. I dont know what the future may bring, nor does Chris Jones , nor does Brandon 17in Speck. But to stir the pot just to create uncertainty and doubt so people will read your article is pretty 17in low and some of the worst journalism I have ever seen.

Why was such a big deal made today out of Jones getting an OM offer? He has offers from everyone. If anything, shows how late to the party they are.

But it was front page worthy in the Daily Journal today. Can't even find them mentioning him getting his Alabama offer AT ALL -- which was actually newsworthy, unlike this OM "story"...

This is all part of their plan to soften Jones up for the pitch from their booster at the game. The booster will come along and give him the "what will it take speech". Throw in the made up rumors and the open checkbook to see if they can make the steal. Same thing they did w/ CJ and a lot of the same people involved.

We played a part in CJ decommitting from us though. Ole Miss didn't pull that off on their own. Let's just say he is the one recruit that I do think the staff made a mistake on.

You guys give Ole Miss too much power.

It's interesting that some "journalists" create rumors, then question people about those phony rumors in an effort to create a story.

To throw some truth out there, there has been no talk of 2013 MSU commit Chris Jones decommitting from MSU on any MSU boards this week

Here's the thing- quit reading their stuff.

I unsubscribed from pretty much every beat writer on Twitter. I don't read their articles with the CL. In the times in the past when I did read their stuff, I'd comment and ask them to explain their intentions.

They're trying to sell stories. They're selling them because people are jumping on the wagon when then mention these half-truths; get off the wagon. If you must, tell them once that you will no longer read what they have to say. They're not journalists, they're people that put rumors to print. Nothing more. Girls spread less rumors than these guys.

I am sure they will try that, but Chris is a maroon superman and has way to much integrity to fall for that.

Better yet

Let them know not only will you no longer read, but you are forwarding a copy of your letter to their editor.

They do it because people allow it; just quit allowing it.

This is a fact.

Bringing their bs to the boards does, in fact, empower them -- until we collectively get sick enough of it to do something about it. Not sure what that would be -- because I'm not currently paying for either paper. However, our eyes on the article still pays their salaries to some extent through advertisement, etc...

Yea- I've said for a long time, beat writers have gotten pretty terrible over the years. Would consider none "journalists".

I don't care if you like OM or State, just put facts in your articles and quit going for ways to spin your articles so you get more views. I can read Rick Cleveland all day and not get offended, even when he does start slanting. He still attempts to keep it even keel, and puts the respect of his profession above the dirty stuff. It's easy to resort to that stuff, makes your columns much easier to write. To put actual thought, truth, etc. in is what makes it hard and why not everyone can do it.

None of them take their job seriously- you included, Godfrey. You use it to spin and slant until you think you get what you wanted. But there's no professionalism involved in that. The sad thing is he could actually be decent if he gave the profession the respect it deserved- but I'll only equate him to a 15 year old girl that starts rumors to make herself feel better. Like watching Mean Girls or something.

Yea I agree quit reading there stuff because its not credible but the fact of the matter that I got upset about is that they are telling our recruits lies in order to sway them. Thats not cool to manipulate a 17-18 year old kid and try and spin their recruitment. By stopping reading their articles may keep you away from the nonsense those unethical reporters are still spitting lies into the recruits ears and its really not right.

I love that avatar. Combat racism with homophobia. That'll teach 'em.

I see it as a melding; we can all get along.

Just glad to see you're hard at work checking message boards for story material; I knew you'd be lurking. Wouldn't want you straining yourself getting facts from actual people and then putting those facts in your stories.

Hey, why don't you write a story intended to incite angry comments, gather comments from it, and then post those comments as part of another story! That'd be awes- oh yeah. But that's what you call "journalism". Seriously, that's it. And you showed your true colors by posting the worst with their names on it, with no care about how that would impact them. That's journalism to you; you can't help that they showed their "true colors", even if you were the one that planted the seed. I knew what you were doing, and you did too. That was my first and last article to read from you. You're no better than any of those people; you''re probably worse for inciting it.

If you're cool with making a living like that, by all means, continue to do so. You're not fooling anybody. Give me somebody that can mix facts in with substance any day over that drivel. Which is very few of you guys anymore. Sad.

Nah. Tell them once why you are going to quit reading their articles/Twitters/whatever, and then back that up with a letter you are going to send to their editor reminding them that they are supposed to be in a business that reports facts without allowing bias to get in the way. He has no business asking that kid that, and then continually asking related questions- I agree. Let the editor know you know it's not responsible or respectable, which is what they're supposed to be grading their writing with.

It falls back on the editor, too, because he/she allows it in the paper. The writers will shrug it off and just say, "yeah, they think I'm part of the 'we hate Bulldogs fan club'"- but that's a cop-out from doing their job correctly. And they're not used to having to do it correctly anymore, so hopefully they have some editor that actually remembers how it's supposed to be and puts quality before quantity of maybe truths.

Thats pretty bad...

Shamelessly badgering a guy about a rumor you started. Then being arrogant enough to put it on youtube and call it journalism.

Seen it all know.
