Doubt the dropping part. Can't deny the shittastic part. Too much emphasis on preseason rankings.

I read in the paper this morning that thus will be their first time starting 4-0 since 1971. Yes, 1971. I would've sworn the gridiron juggernaut that is UMiss had plenty of those between now and then.

Preseason hype and that $$$ recruiting class has gotten OM to that No. 10 ranking. The train should derail pretty soon.

They won't drop. Yet. But it's hard to see them winning an SEC West game.

I guess I just see things differently

I would certainly agree that the bears didn't look great tonight. But IMO they are beating teams even when they don't look very good just like we have done this year. Ultimately, even though they had four turnovers, they still led the entire game, covered the spread and their defense is definitely for real. Since I got pissed that my OM friends talked us down after UAB, I don't want to imitate their bad actions. We beat UAB when we didn't play close to our best, and I took that as a sign of overall team strength as compared to us in years past. Anyway, I guess I just see this game a little differently than some others do.

Big difference here. Their version of "don't look very good" includes turnovers, personal fouls, etc. Our version includes playing too many backups and vanilla playcalling. One is much easier to fix than the other.

I think you have overlooked our weakness in our secondary. I still just see one potential problem area for us and them. For us, it's our secondary, and we will know our answer next weekend. For them it is their inability to run the ball, and we will know that answer after next weekend too. Not whether or not they can really run the ball (I know they can't), but whether or not they can compete in SEC games without a strong running game. Anyway, I agree they will have to correct their turnover problem or Bama will smoke them as usual, but I think their defense will keep them in most of their games. I may just be overly impressed with their D but it looks real to me.

Their defense is outstanding if you don't the personel to run right at them. Memphis didn't. Sec teams do. I do think they are good defensely, but can they hold up to bigger, stronger offensive teams?

Coming into this week, I thought that the run game was their potential defensive issue, and I suppose I still do (this wasn't an SEC offensive line they played against). However, Memphis has run the ball really well this year and they couldn't tonight. I suppose we will know for certain this coming weekend about their defending the run. I honestly believe that we will both have a very good understanding of just how good we really are after this coming weekend. If our secondary plays strong against TAM, then I believe we could be a very, very good team this year!!

When you blitz safeties and corners when the other team is obviously running, your defense looks a lot better. As pointed out last night, a few caught play action passes would have slowed that down and opened up their offense.

Bama has amauri cooper and a solid ground game. My bet is their defense looks a lot less potent next week.

Also they still have yet to find a running game without penalties. Through the cupcake portion on their scheduling, they have accumulated 1300 yards through the air this year, while through 4 easy games, STILL do not have a rusher that has reached 200 yards ON THE SEASON. Walton has 199 and mathers has 150... And the remainder are not even close. And that is through 4 easy games.

That's the biggest red flag for me.

Ole Miss' defense is just like everything else at Ole Miss, all show and no substance. They are always looking for the big hi so they can throw up their little hand sign and celebrate. They don't wrap up and tackle with fundamentals. As soon as they play against a team with talent at RB and WR, those big hits are going to start missing, andbig plays will happen.

On the offensive side, they were resorting to fumblerooskies and other trickery against Memphis....Memphis. If you're using trickery against a...what conference is Memphis in again?...you're going to be in deep excrement against Bama.

Probably not. Television wants them to be rated as high as possible so Alabama will look good when they knock them off.

All 3 of OM's leading tacklers are defensive backs. All 3 of ours are linebackers. Their defense is a smoke screen... Mark my words.

To be fair, I believe yall resorted to a QB throwback vs. South Alabama.

Also, I have a feeling that Freeze called that fumblerooskie because he called it vs. Memphis many years ago when he was the WR coach under Coach YawYawYah. Also, he probably felt we needed a spark. If that is the case, then yes I agree we are in big trouble this upcoming weekend. We are in trouble anytime we play Bama, though. Not a good matchup for us in the least bit.

Buddy and I were in the Woodford pretty

Hard last night and this post was over the top but Ole Miss doesn't look like a top 10 team right now and if they don't get their offense straightener out they are gonna get some knots on their head. Their defense is fast and they run to the ball and tackle well. It will be interesting to see how their DL comes out against the OL they are about to see.
