I still say the stadium is a pipe dream, designed to show they dream (emphasis, "dream") bigger than us.

Exhibit A: "when funds are available"

Still like expanded DWS a little better. Boone & Nutt will have to go before they ever fill that up.

which reminds me of the bbq joint - the shed - on the coast with all the different "phases" of stacked tin and 2x4s

that brick wall on 3 sides of the basketball lower level? Are they trying to pin in the students and then make sure the alumni have better fire exits?

school in the country whose stadium is reversed? In other words, everytime I look at their stadium, and see the gigantic baseball grandstand behind the endzone combined with their Coahoma Community College-ish sideline seating with what appears to be 24 rows of bleachers with a Ron Polk-Style Skybox perched on top, I just cringe. I keep wanting to see an anouncement that says they are rotating their playing surface 45 degrees so that the folks paying for those great endzone seats can see the game from an angle other than from behind the center's ***.

Secondly...one of you farkers. I want to see a photo (may have to be google maps or something) that shows Vaught Hemingway being expanded. But, I just want the expansion to be a fence or brick wall that leaves the stadium, travels 2 blocks and goes around the Grove only to reconnect to the other side of the stadium. That's how they will increase to 70k and make everyone happy. Then all the Grovers can claim that they went into the stadium and didn't leave early.

Is there a rendering showing the part of the expansion that will face the field? I'm interested to see their plans for dealing with the jumbotron that's in the NEZ now.

the gaps between the East Suits and S EZ and between the NEZ and West press box. I guess four boards would be too many screens for a stadium our size. Seemed odd to only have two, but who knows.

This is the NEZ or "front door" as they are calling it. If you are bored go to forwardtogetherrebels.com/site and it has the tour and more pics plus avideo of boone talking about how we are doing it.

I don't have any figures but it seems like ours was pretty pricey. Seems kinda ridiculous to take something that expensive down less than ten years after putting it up.

In this rendering, obviously the Starnes Center is demoed. Are you guys replacing it with a football only facility?

Also, I'm shocked any proposal would ignore the pressbox on the west side. I'd cost you a few million to be rid of the thing, but the space provided once it was gone would be priceless. Why not address prime seating on the sidelines before the endzone?

Finally... you're going to lose a couple of hundred parking spaces next to the police station. Everybody on board with that?

But don't get me wrong. Looks nice.

from ONE side. It's bad enough now with 50k plus going in. Put another 20Kcoming all in through the pretty little opening and youhave a cluster F$%*! It does look nice from the outside. Now the basketball arena is a home run over the terrible one they have now, but it ain't too pretty from the outside and what is up with the brick wall going around the bottom 3 sides of it? Weird. I will have to read more about it or see more pics to understand what they are trying to do.

Good questions. I wondering the samethings. We are renovating the concourse areas on both East and west sides, but i was expecting at least brick on the sides similar to the north and south. I hate our pressbox as well and hate to see we aren't doing anything about. But I guess one problem at a time. 150 mil isn't going to just fall out of the sky so asking for more is I guess silly. Maybe if we do a final plan like y'all did it would include a huge press box and matching suits on the east with a universal facade

I'm sure things will evolve, they always do. I hope we both can get funds quick, I'm a little worried about cost escalation in this economy. But maybe that's just me being over cautious.

The brick wall on the three sides is the student section. It basically lets them stand the whole game if they want, while being right on the court. Its not common but seems to be the trend with new arenas.

To the comment above. We didnt pay for our jumbotron. TeleSouth spent 6 million to build it as a small part of our current marketing contract with them.

leaving VH at the lower right of the rendering.

VH looks pretty good but I think the final Davis Wade will blow it away. Actually, I think our next expansion will blow it away. The new Tad Pad looks damn impressive. Just wondering one thing though. With all of that glass, is it possible that the sun may affect play during the day or is the glass 'smart glass' that can block the sun if need be?

That full-blown rendering of DW looks really good, but don’t y’all have a logo with an arch incorporated at the bottom that would work well on that north side arch?

Its been my experience that in time of bad economy cost escalation is at a minimum for construction. Labor gets cheaper and contractor's profit margin is lowered to make sure they get the job. JMHO

What I've seen lately is a market where commodities like oil and metals et al are still over inflated because of pressures from investors trying to find any safe havens. For instance asphalt is still relatively near where it was during the peak of the construction boom. Also copper is still running high. We shouldn't be seeing the prices we are now with such little demand. Perhaps with the Chinese economy beginning to slow we'll see some easing of prices.

And we did it without letting our students in for free.
Our students pay a student fee for baseball and basketball tickets, they don't get in for free.
