Early potential names include Oliver Luck, Bernard Muir, Gloria Nevarez, Burke Magnus, Dan Radakovich and Gene Smith.
Luck will be interviewed but doesn't mean he will be hired.
Perhaps he can finish off the failing PAC 12 and bring us to 4 P5 conferences.
***....
He'd be a Piss Poor commissioner
Wouldn't that be a good thing
It could force USC to the Big 12.
I wasn’t on here guaranteeing that USC would (I’m not from Texas either). For West Virginia msg board to suggest such a move - further 2000 miles west is misleading and foolish -
from WVU perspective.
Wvu should shop for another conference to join, But WVU can't move because there are not another conference to move to.
Makes b12 subservient to Pac12.
No way USC Moves from west coast.
Sorry
Oliver Luck is highly regarded in sports management circles. Will be very interesting if he moves over to the PAC 12, if not won't be surprised to see him step into the BIG 12 leadership role in 2026 when Bowlsby retires.
One good thing about Luck is he cares about WVU, with conference realignment on the horizon he is more likely to make moves that don't harm WVU in any way.
Hope he ends up back in the BIG 12 in a few years as the BIG 12 absorbs some of the PAC schools in their new deals.

Any hope of WVU EVER getting into the Asheshe died when the Conference was founded in the 1950's out of the old SoCon schools. Even Fast Eddie waving bye bye from the dock as the Asheshe sailed away with BC, VPLIes, and Cryami would not have changed anything back in 03. When sPitt and Suckacuse jumped out of the crashing Big East plane, Ollie grabbed the last parachute to get us onto the only island left...the Big XII. Would I rather be in a conference with State Penn, Rutgers, sPitt, and VPLIes??? Yes, but reality is reality and we need to accept that fact. Otherwise, those who think the Asheshe will take us are as delusional as Marshall fans thinking they will end up the the AAC.Yep ...
Anyother discussion is stupid,
Especially with pac12.
I say disadvantage for WVU if Luck is PAC commish. If he does, he'll never be commish of another conference. I'd rather he wait and see if another conference commish job comes open that is not the PAC and he gets us in. Granted, that's a lot of unlikely dominoes to fallRumors of him being in San Francisco today and his name is being linked in articles

Not to burst your bubble, but as a LA resident since 2000, I have not heard even one rumor about USC , or UCLA, leaving the P12. What USC wants is to get a coach who can keep all the SC talent at home and return it to the playoffs. SoCal has the second most 5* HS players year in and year out (second only to Texas). But the last couple of USC coaches have allowed most of that talent to escape North (Oregon and Washington) and East (UT, ASU & UofA). if USC ever gets a coach like NB -- one who can keep the local talent at home -- then it will be once again challenging the SEC for national prominence. There is no talk about it leaving the P12.
Ditto for the two Arizona schools. I lived there from '86 to 2000, and both my kids still live there (ASU grads). None of us has heard anything about either AZ school leaving for the B12. In fact, both schools are tied at the hip to SoCal in recruiting both athletes and students. The only P12 schools who may consider leaving are the two in the NE sector (Utah and CU). So, in short, we need to stop dreaming about USC and UCLA jumping to the B12, and start worrying about how to keep UT and OU from doing just the opposite.
For the second time (some people need to keep up) I was hardening back to a troll making that claim . Not my idea.
If I was giving out my college football dream conference lineup, it would not include WVU in the same conference with any school west of the Mississippi.
Hope not, sincerely hope not.
His business sence, only seemed to help his ambition.
Like Oliver as a player,
not so much as an AD , not so much as
an administrator.
ARE YOU KIDDING. OLIVER WAS THE BEST WVU AD OF THIS CENTURY? GOT US INTO THE BIG 12 WHEN OTHER BIG EAST TEAMS WERE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD.
Nope...Lyons is much better...
Oliver was a hired gun. And a short timer.
Sorry bro, your entitled to your opinion but Oliver Luck was arguably the worst AD in WVU history- Luck's style or "style type" is not suitable for WVU family atmosphere.
Clemmons, Don Nehlen
got wvu into b12.
WE'LL AGREE TO DISAGREE. YOU'RE ENTITLED TO BE WRONG.
The chances of WVU being " jettisoned" by the BIG 12= 0.
The chances of WVU surviving in major sports if the BIG 12 is one day blown up due to inaction in the face of having to majorly increase each schools revenues in the next negotiation that will happen by 2023? Not great.
WVU would be enhanced tremendously and gain tremendous exposure by being in conference with schools such as UCLA, USC, Texas, OU. It would be an amazing development that would bear fruits for decades to come.
Travel details can always be worked out. You cant repair not being part of a major conference.
