China still has a good deal more Gold medals.. yet, still 20 behind in total. Not really sure how, were the early events just better suited to them?

I believe 4x400 men's and women's relays remain, along with a few more events (i.e. baseball, women's water polo, women's basketball) in which Team USA has a chance to even up with China on Gold medals.

Jesus, pretty much their golds came from Weight lifting, ping pong, diving and shooting.

And how TF do we have 5 different events for pingpong?

As of my reading right now they havent put up the golf gold medal. If Im right then the US is down 3 golds, but leads the overall medal count by quite a bit.

They seem to do well in the judged events, weightlifting, and more obscure stuff like ping pong, canoeing/sailing/kayaking, and badminton. That made up like half their medals I think. While that was maybe less than 20% of ours. We do better in the bigger team sports, swimming, wrestling, and track and field.

USA Medal Count: 36 Gold, 39 Silver, 33 Bronze = 108
China Medal Count: 38 Gold, 31 Silver, 18 Bronze = 87

4 more chances tomorrow for USA to tie or overtake China in gold medal race. Two boxing finals, women's basketball final and women's volleyball final sees Team USA go for gold. I'm surprised Japan playing in women's BB final over France, Serbia or Spain. Game on NBC tonight at 10:30 EST.

Does China have a chance to win more golds?

Congrats on 7 straight golds USA Women's basketball!
Happy for USA! Way to go, ladies.

Last Olympic BB game US women lost happened in 1992 at Barcelona during semi-final game to the Unified Team (former USSR). Fun fact: Coach of Russian women's team that year was Evgeny Gomelsky. His brother, Alexander Gomelsky, coached USSR and beat Team USA men and John Thompson during the 1988 men's semi-final in Seoul. Alexander Gomelsky lived in San Diego after retiring from Russian team. He told his brother, Evgeny, the only way to beat US women's athleticism was run a tight, aggressive zone.

Honestly thought these games were poorly broadcast. I know there was a significant time difference, but finding exciting events to watch was challenging.
