And IMO that’s what she’s trying to do, using the “injury” as a way to say I can’t compete fully dealing with this so I don’t want to hold back the team and the usual other excuses. Easy way out 💰🍺
So what exactly makes you draw that conclusion?

All this tells me is that social media is poison. You'll never convince me that athletes like Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali wouldn't have the exact same issues if they were born in the 90's/00's.

If you're gonna call yourself the GOAT. Be on every other commercial for 3 months leading up to the Olympics, you better perform.

Simone Biles owes nothing to nobody, but she shouldn't be off limits to criticism either.

The best ability is availability. I was rooting hard for her, still am.. but you have to compete. Any athlete that runs the risk of dropping out of the Olympics, for any reason, probably shouldn't be there.

Did she call herself the goat? Also she still has the individual events if she competes in them.

It would have just motivated Jordan - can’t speak for others but that’s the kind of stuff that drove him to GOAT status
Agreed. Jordan would have just given twitter a middle finger and smoked his competition with his nuts in a wheelbarrow.

Most all athletes choke at one time or another. Most go through the yips or can't get out of their own head. It's what makes sport so compelling because it is so relatable.

Winners win because they are mentally superior more of the time than their opponents. Biles is a winner but has lost the upper hand this time around. That is nothing to be ashamed of. Quitting is another story. If she felt her replacement could do better, then so be it. I don't know.

It’s unfortunate for her that gymnastics only has a worldwide stage once every 4 year. Tennis has 4 majors every year.
The masses love a champion. They love it when a champion falls. But everybody loves a story of redemption. She still has more chances in the individual competitions.

Other than when quit basketball for almost 2 years because it became mentally taxing. Sure.
We all know that he was secretly suspended for gambling. I have no idea if he was or not but that's the story and it wouldn't surprise me at all.

As for Biles, she's going to be hailed as a hero and her marketability will go through the roof. She's a champion for mental illness.

Had she continued she could have (a) hurt herself or (b) prevented the team from medaling. There was an alternate there (they were not a competitor down); maybe that let the team win the Silver. Her vault score was horrible (only 3 competitors were worse) and it was nowhere near what she had planned.

Also it really isn't fair to compare gymnastics (scored by judges) with basketball. Apples and oranges.

Can you be GOAT if you are a quitter? Roberto Duran was a great champion fighter but will always be remembered for his "No Mas" moment. Tom Brady never quit a game after throwing an interception. Biles wasn't mentally tough enough this Olympics and quit on her teammates. It will and should be part of her legacy.

What’s the Jimmy Johnson line when he coached the Dallas Cowboys…..if you’re going to talk the talk then you’ve got to walk the walk.

That phrase goes dates back to the 1920's but is still valid today.
No, see my previous post. She is a champion for mental health and will make more money by quitting than she ever would have by winning. Being successful is a far second than being sympathetic in modern times.

She has 30 Olympic and world championship medals. That should and will also be part of her legacy. We will see which one sticks

Ah, idk about that. Pretty sure you can't win gold for "panic attacks".
