Well, hosting the Olympics is quite an undertaking and a country needs the appropriate resources to pull it off. You'd think they could at least have kept the damned pool clean though. That was pathetic.

And it wouldn't surprise me one bit if those were honest to goodness cops who robbed the swimmers. It appears the judge working the case wanted to seize Lochte's passport, WTF? Maybe he was full of **** and made it up, who knows but it seems kind of aggressive to do that. They probably didn't like that it damaged their precious reputation.

It's Tokyo in 2020. That will be incredible. I"ll watch that one. I have to take a bath after watching Rio.

Re: Lochte robbery

I've been trying to come up with what may have happened and can only come up with:

A) They were robbed liked they said they were and Rio cops are trying to discredit them

or (and this is from the ABC comments section because that is how I form all of my opinions)

B) They went out whoring and/or partying and Lochte was grilled by his Mom and girlfriend about why they didn't come back until 7am. He panicked, made up a poor lie and asked his friends to lie but didn't flesh it out well enough.

Anyone got anything else?

Moral of the story. Get your story straight before you go out…when you are sober.

It's stupid for Rio to pursue this all things considered. Lochte gets back to US luckily. Other 2 apprehended from airport by authorities? Commies! What difference does it make with all the other crap that went on?

NBC can't help themselves. Shows preliminary diving that happened hours ago instead of live long jump final

Okay -- here's something to add interest to final days. US Gold total in past seven Olympics back to 1988- 36-37-44-37-36-36-46.

Pretty consistent. Either 36 or 37 in five of seven Olympics, with Atlanta and London as the outliers.

At 30 now. Would love to see total top 36...

By the way, throw out the 'boycott' Olympics of 1980 and 1984 and the remarkable consistency returns: 33 gold in 1972 and 34 gold in 1976.

I'd say we're a lock to exceed 36 golds. Still team golds to be awarded in 2 basketballs and 2 volley balls. Ill say at least 2 and likely 3 there. Plus lots of track left including all 4 relays where we should win at least 2(both 4 x 400s at least) also freestyle wrestling where we could get a couple. I'll say we get over 40, maybe like 43-44.

Women beach V-ball wins Bronze. We'll take it I reckon. Good comeback win for the girls.

And once again, wtf NBC? That match was one of the few things that I really wanted to see, but they didn't air it until a few hours after it was over. It was a really great comeback by Walsh-Jennings & Ross. Women's beach volleyball is the greatest women's sport other than jello wrestling.

Some Britts have now reported that they were robbed at gunpoint. I don't know what is going on. Kinda wondering if it was a drug deal gone bad.
grand

if it was a bs report, then any medals should be stripped

Some of these events look like a joke. The canoe sprint looks like something a bunch of drunk buddies would do against each other after finishing off a couple kegs.

Speaking of Duran Duran. Was watching the Olympics last night and said "Rio is hosting the Olympics and no GD Duran Duran." I had my Echo on in the kitchen listening to music. The song "Rio" came on not a second after the statement left my lips. My wife and kids said "Damn, that is weird, as soon as you say that, the song comes on." It was truly a crazy moment. I, right after the song ended, told Alexa to play "Girls on film" and "Undone" by Duran Duran.
