They need to throw out events like trampoline, BMX bikes and men's field hockey.
Bring back, baseball, women's softball and try lacross.
Add synchronized swimming to the list of events that need to go away. Other than boxing, diving and gymnastics, I'm in favor of getting rid of events that rely on judging.

Well there was a woman today that has competed for 3 different teams in the olympics. Oskana Chusovitina has competed for the Unified Team, Germany, and Uzbekistan

Maybe it's a FIBA rule? I just know from what they were talking about during the Australia game with Kyrie.

China has 1 billion more people than we do. Imagine at like 11pm on your average night there should be so many people screwing that you could pick that up on a seismograph?

I'm pretty sure once you represent one country in international competition, you can't then change to another one. They were talking about how Kyrie almost played for Australia years ago, but K talked him out of it so he could play for the US team some day.
Yes he is eligible.

From FIBA, the rules stated that “ In order to play for the national team of a country, a player must hold the legal nationality of that country, and have fulfilled also the conditions of eligibility according to the FIBA Internal Regulations.”

“ Any player with two legal nationalities or more, by birth or by naturalisation, may choose at any age the national team for which he wishes to play. Any such choice must be made in a written declaration to FIBA. This provision applies also to any player having acquired legal nationality by birth, or having the right to acquire a second nationality at birth, but who does not lay claim to this right until a given time in the future. “

“However, if a player having two (2) or more nationalities is summoned by a national member federation after reaching the age of eighteen (18), he is obliged to choose for which national team he wishes to play. “

“A player who has played in a main official competition of FIBA (see article 2-1) after having reached his seventeenth (17) birthday may not play for a national team of another country. However, in exceptional circumstances the Secretary General may authorise such a player to play for the national team of his country of origin if he is ineligible to play for such country according to this article 3-23 and if this is in the interest of the development 9 of basketball in this country. An administrative fee as stipulated in article 3-305 and decided by the Secretary General is payable to FIBA.”

So what makes him eligible to play for United State:

  1. He was born in New Jersey.
  2. He is having United States nationality.
  3. He played for Dominican Republic for 2012 Olympics qualification but it was before his seventeenth birthday

Point taken, but the point remains. If we dare to question our own it's almost like blasphemy but we are very quick to judge others. The USA does seem to dominate any sport that they choose to take seriously and what you stated certainly could explain a lot of that. I'd like to see increased focus on our diving so we could better compete with the likes of China in that sport.
We also dominate every sport bc our populous is made up of all people from around the world.

She's pissed that the other girl is so good. She didn't even clap for her the other night when she won the all around, but the rest of the team was ecstatic.
Yeah was aware of that but don't pout, show you're the best at your forte instead

Happy for Gatlin with the silver. To win medals in 3 Olympics is remarkable.
Isn't that the one who was suspended for doping a while back. I have no use for any athlete with a history of doping even if they are clean now.

Women's beach volleyball may just be the most watchable women's sport ever. It's actually competitive & most of the athletes are easy on the eyes.

Who really knows how many of these athletes are doping right now. There is always cutting edge science that the testers have not caught up with yet and world class athletes (some) are always trying to get an edge.

Gotta play devil's advocate, with Lance Armstrong found to be a huge doper after his run in cycling and cancer comeback, how much bigger of a sh**storm would there be if it was found that Phelps was doping?

It's got something for everyone - I love watching it because of the skill level; and it's fast moving, exciting, etc.
I understand the other appeal - hubby watches too, after all, lol.

I wonder what Bolt looks like when he is trying his hardest on every stride from the get-go? Probably a blurred pair of running shoes and an evil laugh as he heads over the horizon.
