Comparing Pitt to BYU? Did you see BYUs schedule this year? It was the 8th hardest schedule in CFB. Nebraska, UCLA, Michigan, and Boise State all in a row is brutal.

I'm not saying Iowa has an equal schedule to Nebraska by any means but it is wayyyyy closer than some fans have eluded. Also, I don't consider Nebraska a "big boy" in terms of relevance in the big ten. Nebraska is in the same tier as Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan st.

Back to my point. Let's compare different opponents, no need to compare the opponents we have both faced because that has been beaten to death (5-0 vs 1-4)

8-3 BYU = 8-3 Pitt. If both teams are 100% it would be a great game. Slight edge to Pitt because they play in a major conference
5-5 South Alabama = 9-2 Illinois st (I personally think #4 FCS ISU would beat SA)
Miami slightly > Iowa st. Yes I'm serious. Miami is a joke
Southern Miss > North Texas. No argument there
Mich st > Purdue no argument obviously
Indiana > Rutgers. Should be no argument

Rutgers won at Indiana this year and smoked them last year.

Let's be serious. 8 out of 10 times Indiana beats Rutgers. Just as Michigan st would beat Nebraska 8 out of 10 times

or Stanford would beat Northwestern 8 of 10? or Iowa State would beat Kirk Ferentz 9 of 17?

Indiana has won two conference games in two years and has lost to Rutgers both years.

Not sure why Iowa is so infatuated with Indiana? Is it because you were fortunate to beat them this year?
There was a thread on the hawkboard about how Indiana would win the Big 12 recently as well. Perhaps its leftover delusion from when Iowa would pretend that they would win the Big 12 North every year despite having a losing record against the Norths worst team.

While you guys have been playing Indiana every year we have been playing MSU every year and our record against them is 3 wins to 2 losses. Since 2011 you guys are 1-2 against them

If MSU isn't currently a "big boy" then nobody is.

Doubtful and their history states otherwise

Since NU joined the Big10 here is the records for NU and Iowa vs TOSU,MSU,PSU,MI and Wi

NU is 10 wins 8 losses
Iowa is 4 wins and 8 losses

Iowa has played a fairly easy schedule since we joined the Big10 we have 6 more games against the top competition and yet we have still done better - make no mistake Iowa would get blasted by most of these teams
Good point. And Iowa schedule won't get any easier in the near future. They play UM twice, tOSU and MSU once in the next 4 years...thus a total of 4 games vs. top 3 programs in the East. Contrast that with Nebraska playing tOSU 4x, and UM and MSU once...thus a total of 6 games vs the top 3. Now if fairness to Iowa I will say that the league designated them to play Penn State every year for the next four years as their "parity" partner in the east, while Nebraska was slotted against Ohio State.

One other thing on schedules. Looking at future non-conference schedules (2016-2019) Iowa has the weakest power 5 opponent out of all the "top" BIG teams. Penn State is not far behind them.

Power 5 conf/top Indy opponents

Iowa - Iowa State 4x
Neb - Oregon-2x, Colorado-2x
Wis - Utah - 2x, LSU-1x, BYU 2x
NW - Duke 3x and Stanford 1x
MSU - ND 2x and Ariz State 2x, BYU 1x
UM - Arkansas 2x, Florida 1x, Colorado 1x,
OSU - Oklahoma 2x and TCU 2x
PSU - Pitt 4x

Really the difference between Nebraska and Iowa this season (besides Iowa's cupcake schedule) comes down to a couple things.

Iowa doesn't beat themselves with turnovers/penalties. Nebraska has shot themselves in the foot with them this season.

Iowa forces turnovers and capitalizes on them. Nebraska hasn't been

While I disagree on the schedules being so different in difficulty for our two teams. The only noticeable difference being Msu, but we will likely be facing them soon enough. I agree with the rest of your post.

I think Nebraska had some difficulty this season adapting to the new coaching staff, but is getting better. Should be a good game tomorrow, however I see Iowa winning.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

I will not argue non-conference parts of a schedule, but as for the conference portion of Iowa's schedule, that is set by the league headquarters. Have not looked at the next generation of conference schedules, but there may be a two-year period where Nebraska doesn't have to play the East division's 'Big Boys' whoever those teams may be. How would Nebraska performed against Maryland or Indiana this year? How would Iowa have done against Rutgers or MSU?
