Actually, this was a taped interview between Bo and Neil (rebsports.net beat writer) that occurred yesterday.

Bo asked him point blank:

quote Bo: "Neil, can the friction between Nutt and Boone be repaired?"

quote McCready: "No!...It won't. There is tension there. I know people won't like me saying the truth like that. I will get called out by people close to the program. And also, there are certain writers close to the program that are NOT telling the truth and they know they're not telling the truth about everything being fine between the two. Nutt feels like Boone holds the program back. This is the reason why Auburn last year became a major player and almost became a threat last year. And this is the reason why Kansas was in play this year. Its no secret to those in the know and I have to honest about this. Houston is used to the Frank Broyles type AD, who are direct and asks what do you need and I will get it for you. Boone is different. Nutt & Boone are cordial to each other on a personal basis and probably like each other personally, but football-wise they don't. Boone just does not run the OM program like Nutt wants him too and he never will..."

Wow, Yancy and Chuck are not going to like this. McCready might get death threats, he better watch out. This is what happens when the Truth comes to light in Oxford.

This is what I heard on Bo Bounds and you can go download from their archives site for confirmation if you don't believe me....cue Rebel Bruiser in 3,2,1...</p>

Nutt's getting jealous of what's happening at State with the Ninja. I hope Boone stays as long as he can before senility sets in.

anybody with a half a mind knows that Chuck and Yancy have been liars forever. And if you didn't believe they were, that will confirm it.

But that is a brutally honest statement from someone who has to deal with those people. He will be lynched. (pun intended)

And yes, he's absolutely right. To those that suggested Auburn and Kansas were about more money, they weren't.

Neal is right. Those flirtations were all about getting Boone to give Nutt what he wants. And if Nutt does choose to leave before the 5 year mark, it'll be because of his relationship with Boone period.

Boone and Nutt's relationship has been sour from the outset. Chuck tries to sugar coat it some, but their relationship is the reason why we had to create a new position in the athletic department to essentially serve as a buffer between Nutt and Boone.

Kennedy has had similar issues with Boone in the past as well, but the difference for Kennedy now is that Boone stuck by him during the "international incident", and that takes away a lot of AK's ability to gripe about anything.

We need a new AD in the worst way. People will point to the quality coaches we have and the facility upgrades, but they don't realize that those things have primarily happened in spite of Boone, not because of him, and the coaches will leave earlier than they normally would because of Boone.

....why does Boone stay around? Does he have the big money guys in his back pocket? Is the new chancellor a threat to Boone?

Not sure. I know Khayat liked him, and I figured Boone would follow Khayat out the door, but he hasn't. I also think Dan Jones is more of an academian, so he's not going to be as concerned with the athletics side, though I could be wrong on that. We'll see. I was hoping that Khayat's retirement would be followed closely by Boone's with Boone waiting to give the new chancellor the opportunity to bring in his own guy.

There were people that defended LT with this crap too. If either UM and MSU wouldn't have both had 17ing worthless AD's, neither Boone or LT would have lasted 5 years. If Boone had been replaced by a decent AD, UM would have raced away from State and forced a move from LT (and vice versa). Only Nutt falling into his lap and the international incident preventing Kennedy from leaving gives Boone a chance of leaving on his on terms as opposed to being pushed out in a few years.

I find out stuff like that because I'm obsessed with Ole Miss and how to destroy them.

I believe he was on the team with Archie, but he may have been a year or two behind him in school, but yes they played together. Now get back to destroying away.

Agree, and that's also why Greg Byrne is probably the worst thing to happen to Boone. Whether Byrne is able to accomplish his goals or not, he's a forward thinker, and if he keeps working at trying to make MSU better rather than sitting back and taking what comes (see LT), it'll eventually put pressure on Boone to do the same. He won't, and especially if Byrne's tactics work, the demands from our AD will increase.

It's truly sad, but to a lot of the big donors for both schools, everything is alright as long as they have bragging rights at the country club. 5th in the West isn't so bad if MSU/Ole Miss is 6th. Byrne, in a way, will probably be a good thing for Ole Miss in the long run. That's just the way things work in this state.

I'm not an Ole Miss person, but playing football at Ole Miss at that time seems to carry a lot of weight with a lot of the Ole Miss boosters.

That's why I think it might be hard to get rid of Boone.

Heck, it was hard to get rid of LT- it took Scott Ross digging up some dirt to do it- and he actually failed on his first attempt if I recall.

Now, as far as your comment about boosters and alumni not caring as long as they have a spot at the CC- there is a thread on GP in the "HOF thread" section from a MSU cigar boy talking about how MSU would "greatly miss LT". It was a long post, and I thought it was complete garbage- especially in light of where Byrne is taking MSU. What the big money people have to realize is that just because a school changes AD's, they're not going to automatically get kicked out of their 50 yard line club boxes.
