Color me surprised if this happens. I do think it’s a certainty Gavin is starting by then if not day 1.

Hyatt gains nothing by transferring in my opinion. He would be better suited trying to carve out a overseas career if thats his plan. He is from the class of 2019. Has transferred once and would surely have to sit barring any circumstances we are unaware of.

I like the roster. An older Simpson is going to be so fun.

If Reiber is being offered $70,000 he would be helping himself transferring

I'm assuming Paul would slide into the starting role if Mag isnt ready to go at the start of the season?

I think folks are asking a lot of Mag to be back by then. Cleared to practice and play. Sure. But think about what makes Mawot’s game special. His knee is a very important part of that. Getting him back to 100% can’t be rushed. He’s got his whole future to think about. These injuries take more time than just the textbook “when is he cleared” timeframe.

Pretty sure if Hyatt graduates he can transfer without sitting out. For his sake, I hope 5 years was enough to graduate 😃

Off the bench in order
Paul

Hyatt if he stays which I doubt
Portal big
Wolf
Paul thinks he might have a shot at the NBA but would come back for a bench role?
You know things I don't so I'll take that on faith and think he could do really well in that role if he's bought into it. Davis not in the rotation?

If Hyatt leaves do they look for a portal shooter - I think that was what will be missed the most from Hyatt

Still think we can use one other guard, if we really want to go for it we can get a good PG and push Simpson to the bench. That would be a good roster.
I will be surprised if we don’t add a starting or very close to starting PG with quickness to get to the hole. Or at least a combo guard that can do it.

Isn't having healthy knees a very important part of all basketball players games? Which ones don't need them?

Gavin will play starter minutes day 1.

Surprised that OP has Baye playing ahead of Wolfe.
If it's by minutes, more available for Ndongo than Wolf behind Cliff

Hyatt is a career 28% 3 point shooter. That type of production isn't something that will be missed. Pretty likely any portal replacement is an improvement in terms of shooting

I like a lot but are we getting another big who is better than the soph version of Wolf…if Cliff comes back?

Also would love to see another veteran Guard added.
More so than the Cliff > ? > Wolf ….big.

If we don’t fill in the blank above…Wolf playing back up 5 with Ndongo as 3rd string 5 minutes would be fine by me.

5 perimeter players in the rotation. The 6th to be used in case of foul trouble, injury or if someone is not playing well.

Simpson, Spencer, Mulcahy, Griffith, Grad transfer Combo guard, Davis.

4 Bigs, counting the 4 spot. The 5th to be used in case of foul trouble, injury or if someone is not playing well.

Cliff, Mag, Hyatt (or Portal pickup ), Wolf, Ndongo, Chol.

Play between 9 and 11.

Two additional to fill out the roster.

@RU72 I see that you're presuming Cliff returns next season. Based on your earlier comment about the $EC throwing serious money at Cliff, are you saying that he won't be swayed by other program offers or that we have enough in the coffers to retain him? Considering that Reiber was offered $70k, I can't imaging what the market rate is for Cliff.

I always thought NIL was not an issue for Cliff since he wasn't an American citizen.

Yes, but he took them. We need someone to take corner 3's.
It's the best shot in basketball.
Hyatt shot 30% from 3 in B1G play last season 36% in B1G games the year before.
But yes, hopefully we put someone better in that spot next season

I agree this is the way it SHOULD look but do you see Paul coming back an extra year to come off the bench after being a few year starter?

I’d be surprised if Mulcahy comes off the bench. When healthy he’s proven the ability to take over games (Purdue, Mich st). He clearly didn’t play his best towards the end of the season but I think he deserves to start still

Is this prediction from conversations with HC Pike?
Just wondering where "insider" stops and "just another random prediction" begins.

I would assume this is more the latter - similar to "Gavin isn't a two and done in any world".

My observation after discussions with many inside and outside the Rutgers staff. The biggest revelation was how significant they expect Ndongo to be from day one and how the trip to Africa was crafted,in part for him. As to Gavin as a multi-year college player, which parenthetically is a good thing for Rutgers and probably Gavin as well that is an opinion shared by many outside of Rutgers.

How can Cliff get NIL on a visa?
This has been discussed at length. Either pros or Rutgers.

Love the Mag Ndongo combo at the 4

Is that where they are expecting him to play?
