There are a lot of mismatches around here this week: Shelby versus Highland Tech, Maiden versus West Caldwell, Statesville versus Foard, and North Lincoln versus North Iredell, I hope we're not one of them but the last time we played Bandys, just some months ago, they beat us 52-8.
There is one area game that looks even and not much has been said about it, West Lincoln at Bunker Hill. This game gets my vote for the E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one) award.
These two seem hungry for wins, their strong, can throw (especially BH), can run and so far, won't quit. I noticed that Simmons has the Bears winning by three with Bunker Hill ranked 18 and West 19; he assigned a power rating of 115 to each. If that isn't enough they're both located in rural areas and use a variation of red for school colors. All this says even to me which sets the stage for some good football. If you want concessions just scramble all the letters in Bunker Hill and West Lincoln together and you get an anagram of Brunswick stew and beer.
Wish I could be there and if Bandys starts beating us badly I'm really going to wish I was there. If anyone hears of an update please let your fellow football fans know. Thanks

Thank You MC, we'll keep you posted. I only live a few blocks from our stadium. Think I'll walk over and watch my Wolves play. This has been a week of football for you and the little blue planet located just above the county line.
Go a little early so you can get a good seat. Claremont's calling you. Enjoy it.

I'll definitely give the play by play, I'll let Mr. Lincolnton give the insight. Bandys and Lincolnton should be a good game, I know my nephew is ready to go (he wears #55 in honor of yours truly)

I'll be looking for him GD. I appreciate the respect he shows you. Also, GD, Please do the updates, I'll get something in there from time to time. I have a pretty hard time seeing the keys on my iphone especially under the lights and even with glasses.

Thanks for the encouraging words about the Wolves, 321 North. You're correct, 2016 was the last winning season we had at 13-2. We lost to Maiden the last game of regular season and to Reidsville in the semifinals.
You're also right about our guys being young. Even though we've only won a total of three games they honestly try hard and they hit hard, and I don't mean that as a boast.
Coach Byrd and his staff have done a good job. I got to speak with him for a minute this evening. He was over at the stadium cutting grass. He seemed to be encouraged and he said they were working at getting better.

thekidd12, it's awfully good to hear from you. No more 2016 from me. From here on we'll talk about whose best now, and that conversation includes the Eastern Randolph Wildcats. First or second in every 1A poll and running through teams like a locomotive. I know you're excited and happy for them and I am too.

About the E Pluribus Unum thing, first time I remember hearing it the Wizard of Oz told Dorothy Gale they would return to the land of E Pluribus Unum.

Thank you my friend. Hey, the fellers from Eastern Randolph, which included you, could play some baseball. They were good. Remember me telling how my uncle said a guy from over that way hit one of his pitches and it went out of sight. Years later, The International Space Station reported to NASA that a baseball just floated by their window. All the astronauts aboard, In unison, said "D@@@mn" !

I can still hear the ding of those metal sticks. The memory of having played on a team like that has to be priceless. Truly the "kidds" of summer.

Not to highjack your thread, which of course means I’m doing so, but if you get a chance to watch the documentary/movie “Just Plowboys” I think you would enjoy it. Tells the story of state championship won by Farmer High School in 1970. Oddly I ended up playing with and against several of those guys in semi pro league in mid 80s. They were older but most could still hit a fastball.

My friend, you're never hijacking any thread that I might make. Besides, I'm the worst in the world to do it.
About "Just Plowboys", that's interesting. I did some checking and it had premiered at the The Sunset Theater, in Asheboro, what looks to be well renovated and used for cultural events. I found a number to call for DVD purchases. I rarely watch television and I look for this kind of entertainment.
I saw where Farmer High School from Randolph County, had beaten Robersonville High from Martin County, which is way on down there, in the 1970 championship game. I got a feeling there is a good story behind this.
Thanks for the information.
