One of my main problems with Ricky is on display tonight...

Yeah right, just because I married a Rebel, like many a Bulldog from my time, and have several friends in Oxford doesn't make me a Rebel.
Sometimes some of you just can't take off those Croom Colored glasses and see the truth...
Stans is a good recruiter and an average coach, he will never lead us to the promise land like Mr. Pom Squad did...

Sonny Weems and Patrick Beverly with Stefan Welsh is an upgrade.

I have no problem with the fact that Welsh and Washington were experienced players, maybe I was wrong on their minutes. So what! It still does not change the facts that your hatred for Stansbury is obvious and while I agreed with you most of the time on Croom because he was an idiot, trying to say Stans hasn't been successful is utter ********. Would we like it to be more successful, of course, but you and fishwater sit around and pray we lose to say you were right. That is sick and I wonder if you have ever sat down with Stans and asked him about some of your thoughts? I have, and he has always given me a valid reason and perspective. If you did indeed coach, I would assume you might want to try that but people who think they are always right are usually emotionally sick . Now, I'm rooting for the dogs Saturday and I hope we whip their asses to see what lame *** reason you can come up with because even an innocent bystander can see that Jarvis has improved, Ravern is starting to get it, and Bost will be much better than your golden boy Ervin.

I dont hate Stansbury- I just dont think he is a great coach. He has done a pretty good job, but a much better job should have been done.

He has shown, time after time, he has taken the program as far as he can. He got a 2 yr bonus that a Baylor player shot another and we got LR. With no LR, our post player on those team was Marcus Campbell...Big Feces = no NCAA Tourney

Since LR graduated, we are 25-23 in the SEC...and by the end of this year, we will have made the Tourney only once in the last 4 years- I call that regression.
Since we have regression taking place, I feel his job should be on the line in 2009-2010.

Its that simple

Again I ask, since when have we EVER been above average in the SEC in ANYTHING other than baseball? Stans isn't a great coach, but he's a pretty damn good one and he's likely better than our next coach will be (whenever that is). There's definitely things he can and should be critized for (no Sweet 16, way too many decent players transferring out, etc.), but the bottom line is he's done a pretty damn good job overall. Now if he quits producing at the level he has historically, then yeah, we need to talk about firing him. But missing the NCAA tournament for one year after making the 2nd round the previous year doesn't qualify as enough regression to even begin to think about that.

baseball is what it is...
basketball has been good for the most part since 1990
Football is a different entity- takes a helluva lot more to be competitive in that than it does the other two....

I know you expect to win like I do, and if we miss the Tourney this year and next- you telling me you still want him here?

And we're not even close to competitive in any of them over the long term except for basketball and baseball (and in Stans's tenure it's pretty much been in that order).

We all agree that Stans gets a pass this year if he missed postseason entirely (barring a complete meltdown during the SEC season). If he makes the NIT next year and appears to be reasonably well set up to make the NCAA tournament the following year, I wouldn't fire him. But he'd be on a one year produce or else understanding.

Edited to add that I do agree that nobody really gives a **** about any of those other sports. But the fact we're not even close to competitive in any of them kind of backs up the fact that it's pretty hard to win consistently at MSU in anything. We're only worth a **** in baseball because we built our program before the rest of the SEC had even heard of college baseball.
