I thought the CA in this guys twitter handle stood for Commercial Appeal. It doesn't. He is a free lance writer for MS Sports Magazine and lives in Calhoun City.

If true, this is actually the first job he has been rumored to interview for that actually makes some sense for both sides.

He was never a legit candidate for Florida, Miami, Penn State, etc. Those are all established programs and he just didn't have the track record / experience / pedigree to get those jobs (Penn State for different reasons).

The Colorado job is a different story. They need someone like Mullen to breath some life into the program. I could actually see this being a good fit.

At least the replacement candidate is idiot-proof. Or at least idiot-resistant.

so who would we go with if this is so great for both sides. A coaching search for us this late in the Carousel doesn't seem like a positive at all.

I don't see him leaving right before he moves into the new indoor football facility that he basically designed and before getting to see the new stadium expansion finished. Crazier things have happened though.

Got to be some trolling going on... He could have at least picked a credible radio station

There's ZERO talk of him on their fan board called allbuffs, which sounds like a porn site. They do have some people talking about a guy named Dave Logan who is apparently a legend out there and who recently won four HS state championships in a row before getting canned for something. I think he does Broncos games too. His high school?? MULLEN HIGH SCHOOL. Maybe that's how this got started?

KGNU

Yep. KGNU is "public/community" radio station. Looking at their programming schedule --- their programs are "old grass, GNU grass and greatful dead hour" I kid you not.

Mullen will be evaluating where he has the best chance of winning... guaranteed. Money will only be a small facet to this deal... This may seem like a lateral move to us, but my gut feeling is that he has realized how difficult it is to win here consistently, and he is going to go where he feel he has the best chance to win and to take the next step. Outside Darrell Royal, no one else has taken the next step from our head coaching job.

Folks, Dan's not leaving State to wade in a dumpster fire @ CU.

It's ridiculous to even consider. Go to bed.

Early in Colorado's search process I asked a CU source about Mullen. The source said. "We can't get him to bite." Maybe that changed. Maybe

CU may be a hibernating giant, but they are far from a dumpster fire. If they're willing to seriously commit to football success aGAIN, they'll improve rather quickly.

I never said he was leaving... just echoing what I said 2 weeks ago when everyone was jumping on the "Fire Merlinz" boat. I said then that I would not be surprised at all if he leaves this offseason, even if it is a "lateral move." There are too many indicators that he has lost some of his edge and fire this year, and has not had his team behind him like he had his first 2 years. I'm just throwing out the possibility that he could leave and think objectively as to why he would leave. It makes sense, no?

I personally don't want Mullen gone because of what he has done and what he will continue to do, but even when he came here, people understood he would use this as a stepping stone. He wants to win games, plain and simple... and if he doesn't feel he can do that here, he will go somewhere he can.

If by commit, you mean bringing in call girls for recruits, then you are probably right. That place really isn't geared toward football unless you are going to sell recruits on the scenery, mountains, and bicycling. I don't know how many DI prospects the state of colorado produces in a good year, but I can't imagine it being many. Back in the day when they were good, they were getting most of their good recruits from California. Now, Oregon has taken that role and they have Nike behind them.

CO would be a calculated risk. I personally hope Dan stays, but as a Mississippian retired in CO I can certainly see why he would consider it.

CU is in a bad position right now, but with the right leadership it could become a premier coaching gig now that it is in the Pac 12. There is money here, but the school has not had the incentive to put it in the program. With energy, enthusiasm, and a few wins the cash would begin to flow.

And CO has a good brand of HS football. There are recruits to be had here (consider Collin Klein who played HS not far from CU). That is the reason many in CO are clamoring for Dave Logan, a HS coach who is a proven winner and well known around the state. Dave would not have lost Collin to KSU.

I love Mississippi, and I glad I grew up there, was educated there, and lived there most of my life. However, there is quality of life here in CO which has some advantages. Some talk about the weather but I have been colder in a MS duck blind than I have ever been in CO - it's a "different" cold. Plus the summers are spectacular!

Now I hope Dan stays put. His record gives me good reason to return for a couple games a year without my spouse haggling over what it costs to return. But don't think Dan considering a 13.5 mil offer from CU is not beyond a possibility.

Oregon has Nike money. Maryland has Under Armour money. And CU has Sports Authority money if the right candidate surfaces. The paper this morning has articles encouraging a major upgrade in football. And John Fox and Peyton Manning are pulling for the right candidate.

Excuse the verbosity, but CU is not going to be a bad gig.

They're much closer to a dumpster fire than a hibernating giant. McCartney had a great run there for 15 years, but historically, Colorado football has been very mediocre. They just don't really care about football much up there and they don't have the facilities the top programs (or any program in the SEC) have. Basically, they're the Cal Bears East.

You must not have seen them play recently. There are high school teams that could beat the Buffs. It's a total multi-year rebuilding job with no facilities, a passive fan base and no in-market recruiting base.

See Dumpster Fire.

Never saw a high school with a $60 mil athletic budget. They competed well in the old Big Eight at one time...they can compete in the PAC 12. For the record almost every school in that conference has a "passive" fan base.

Maybe the recruits will like the legal pot smoking options.

Get Kliff Kingsbury on the phone, just in case. I'd be really surprised if Dan left us for Colorado though.

Primary point is they are about as talent deprived right now as any FBS school in the country. Would take multiple just to get back to .500. They need a Croom. Hell, maybe he'd be interested.
