Onion Sportsdome, opinions?

I have watch these first two shows. I don't believe I will watch anymore. I have always been a fan of cutting edge humor. I love South Park, the Chappelle Show and many other controversial comedians from years past.

I think this show just tries to go over the edge for the sake of going over the edge. Some bits are there just for shock and more disturbing than funny (Little Cancer patient hates David Wright, The National Crystal Meth Hallucination League, and masturbation record).

I was curious of others opinions that have watched it.

if you like the humor TheOnion.com puts out and you like sports, you will think it's hilarious...

if you don't like either one or the other, you're pretty much assured of not liking it.

I checked it out because I love theonion.com. It's pretty awful. I think it keeps trying to be shocking to get that Tosh.0 crowd but it does not work.

Edited to add: I thought the Bill Belichick as a spurned lover was fairly funny...but other than that, no thanks.

The only hope that show has is the fact that it follows Tosh.O.

The one with Shaq having about 6 heart attacks during a game was funny but i turned it off at Methhead vs Snakes.

If it were in one of the Adult Swim style 15 minute time slots, it would kill. The Onion Radio news segments are always hilarious because it's a minute with no filler. An Onion story online takes about two minutes to read. The MMA fighter with titanium hands bit was funny, and so was the girlfriends watching sports roundtable. Over the course of time, very few sports themed comedy shows (see also: SportsNight) have worked.

The shaq heart attack thing was pretty funny, and I actually liked the meth head vs the snakes, I guess because the commentary. When he says something about the flying snakes and the guys movements, swinging, and swatting I laughed. The rest of the 2 episodes were too much garbage. The kid with cancer ended my watching it. I would have given it a D until that but its an F now.

I agree, but at the same time its hard for a show to follow something like Tosh.O and survive. Daniel Tosh is pretty funny, I liked. His standup acts before this show.

but damnit I thought it was awesome. I have only seen one episode and I was definitely in the right state of mind to be viewing a show like that. I might not enjoy it as much sober but I really enjoyed the one episode.
