Have been in a heated debate with my nephew 22 and my self 46 both lifelong Steeler fans. I am done with Tomlin, he has one Superbowl (Cowhers team). Lost in 2010 (his team). But has been the example of playoff ineptitude for the past 14 years! Yes never a losing season since 2010 but the guy can't win a playoff game. Don't give me this player coach bs, it's not paying dividends where it counts. Tomlin loves to throw out the "Steelers standard" quote but is not being held to it, time for him to go! What say the pack?

I have been on the "keep Tomlin" side for many years however this year may have finally broke me. The first half of the game the other night showed a team unprepared and unmotivated to play.

Outside of the Bengals game, for the last month the Steelers have had their a$$ handed to them and their response seems to be "please sir, may I have another ".

The goal this year was to win the division and a playoff game. They failed at both. Lamar and Burrow aren't going anywhere for a while so you have to be able to compete. I saw too many examples this year where it didn't appear they were competing.

Great coach. He’s simply too proud to tank. They are in NFL purgatory because they are consistent. Never getting a top draft pick sucks when you don’t have a QB.

When Roethlesberger retired, so did their chance of winning big. They simply haven’t had a good quarterback since then. I mean, he won 10 games this year with draft bust Justin Fields and Russell Wilson’s corpse. Until the Steelers get a non-backup quarterback to be their starter, it won’t get any better.

Fun Fact: Since my birth in 1969, the Steelers have had only 3 coaches (Noll, Cowher, and Tomlin). Tomlin has the highest win percentage of the three as well as the highest win percentage of any Steelers coach dating back to 1941 and 1933 when they were the Pirates. However, both Noll and Cowher did better in the post season.

Not as knowledgeable about the NFL as most of you but I think Tomlin is a good guy and the Steelers will never fire him unless he puts together a couple of totally disastrous seasons.

I am also a lifelong Steelers fan and have wanted Tomlin gone for a few years. He's an OK coach but far from the reputation he has as one of the best coaches in the NFL. Say what you want about the Cowboys but they have won over 10 games 5 times since 2016. Tomlin has done it once. He won with Cowher's Team his first season and hasn't done anything significant since Ben retired.

He has squandered some really good starts to seasons ( this one included) and is 0-7 in his last 7 playoff appearances.

Also he keeps cancers that are on the team for much longer than he needs to. He currently has one on the team in George Pickens. Pickens needs to go this offseason.

The Rooney family will never fire him though, and i predict once he is done coaching they will give him an equity stake in the team.

Purgatory is the right word.

i'm a lifelong Saints fan and would love Tomlin in NOLA. Think the Steelers need to trade Wilson for some picks and ride with Fields for a while. All of your offensive weapons are young. I don't think it would hurt to see what y'all have there

I think tomlin is a better than average nfl coach. His teams play tough, good D, and usually can run the ball. Good playoff recipe. Unselfish, accountable, self motivated teams. When I watch them QB play is below average, and they don’t normally have any explosive players on offense. Pickens seems like a diva, and the last playmaker was AB. I too think rothlisberger gave them a chance to be dangerous.

Wilson is a free agent, and I would have no interest in resigning him. He is the epitome of Check Down Charlie. He can't or refuses to throw over the middle, possibly because he can't see the middle. He holds onto the ball too long and several of the sacks he had this year were all on him.

I would be fine with keeping Fields for a year or two and either trade for or draft a potential franchise quarterback. The free agent market this year is not great and the draft class doesn't seem to be great either. The options for a free agent qb are Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson, Daniel Jones, Mac Jones, Jameis Winston, Justin Fields, Marcus Mariota, Mason Rudolph, Andy Dalton or Jacoby Brissett.

Darnold will most likely re-sign with the Vikings. I'm not sure if there would be a chance to trade for McCarthy but that's a risk as well. If Cousins gets cut, he would be the best of the rest, but he was pretty immobile this year and lost his job to a rookie. Same thought with Aaron Rodgers.

I just find it hard to believe that Cousins is suddenly bad.

I too would let him walk. I didn't like the signing to begin with. I think he is washed.

He’s a great coach. He’s really a great motivator, and a decent X & O’s guy. That second part hurts running into KC and Baltimore every January.

Crazy how stable the Steelers franchise has been. 3 coaches in 60 years.

The 2022 QB class being awful really hurt the Steelers. They take Pickett at #20 and the next ones to go are Ridder, Malik Willis and Matt Corral. It literally took 261 picks before SF finds a starter in Purdy.

Cousins was put in an untenable situation in Atlanta with them signing him and then immediately drafting a first round quarterback. They were waiting for any excuse to put Penix in and he knew it. I would bet he plays very well next year if he gets a new team.

I know nothing about the Steelers and next to nothing about the NFL, but it is funny to see "good playoff recipe" in the plus column for Tomlin after going 0-7 in the last 7 years.

I think Tomlin is a good coach. I think part of his problem is that he got too much success too soon (we'll have this same conversation about Sean McVay in 4 years) and he never really sustained that success. He had a Super Bowl win by his second season and another appearance in his 4th. They're perennially in the playoffs and they're never 'bad', but they never got back to where they were in his first 5 seasons.

Tomlin is NFL version of Dan Mullen… win most of the games he is supposed to but not win many where he is the. Underdog
