That has to be one of the worst jobs in FBS. Ick. Good luck to whoever wants to take that on. Especially with the rise of the Oregon Ducks brand that isn't going anywhere.

Shows how good of coach Riley is. Andersen did well at Wisconsin but bombed at OSU. Reason #23 Riley needs more time.
******************************************************************************************************

The first Power Five head coaching casualty of the season is Gary Andersen.

Oregon State athletics director Scott Barnes announced Monday that Andersen and the school have agreed to mutually part, effective immediately.

"I thank Gary for his many contributions to our student-athletes, OSU Athletics and Oregon State University," Barnes said. "OSU football has advanced significantly in many ways during Gary's tenure here, including in our facilities and student-athlete academic performance. This program is poised for success on and off the field."

As part of the agreement, they have agreed to release each other from all future contract obligations and payments, which were guaranteed through the 2021 football season.

"After many discussions with Scott, waiving my contract is the correct decision and enables the young men and the program to move forward and concentrate on the rest of this season," Andersen said. "Coaching is not about the mighty dollar. It is about teaching and putting young men in a position to succeed on and off the field. Success comes when all parties involved are moving in the same direction."

Barnes said he immediately would undertake a national search. In the interim, Barnes has appointed current assistant coach Cory Hall to lead the program.

I can't recall a time when a head coach volutnerred not to collect the money from getting kicked out due to lack of performance. Odd I must say.

I wouldn't be surprised if a second Pac job opens - Arizona State?

Ok, so
Riley is better than Anderson = he needs more time regardless of what happens this season.
Makes so much sense.
Wisconsin didn't see eye to eye with Anderson either. People on here said it was all on Alvarez. Maybe not, huh?

Time for Mike Riley to go back to Oregon State for a third time.

I do not believe Banker is coaching anywhere. They could jump on that.

He's a mediocre DC but has a lot of experience coaching at P5 schools and for the Chargers. Nice guy, too.

Remember 33-0 OSU vs Clemson? Urban is a mediocre coach. That logic, amirite?

Yes, let's compare the careers of Gary Andersen and Urban Meyer. One has 3 National Championships and the highest winning percentage among all active coaches, while the other has 6 losing seasons in 10 years. Thank you for the laugh today, I needed it.

Not saying I disagree with you, I think Urban Meyer is a better coach than Gary Anderson, but Urban won his national titles at blue blood programs that should occasionally win national titles. Now if Urban has heart problems and resurfaces at a place like Oregon State or Kansas and wins a national title then we can anoint him the greatest coach of all time.

I am guessing they DID have something on him, as phoenix alluded to above. No other explanation really.
they are saying he told a oregon sports radio host before if he felt he could not win he would just walk away. he said he did not need the money. nobody believed him. looks like he meant what he said
