Yes, let's compare the careers of Gary Andersen and Urban Meyer. One has 3 National Championships and the highest winning percentage among all active coaches, while the other has 6 losing seasons in 10 years. Thank you for the laugh today, I needed it.
went way over your head

they are saying he told a oregon sports radio host before if he felt he could not win he would just walk away. he said he did not need the money. nobody believed him. looks like he meant what he said
Maybe that's true. But strange that he would walk away from his team in the middle of the season.

Utah State is not happy with Andersen's replacement. Andersen is from SLC. Maybe he can go back to Logan and get his old job back.

Hadn't heard that. He won 28 games there in 4 years, which is the 2nd most wins there by any coach there in their first four years.

So lets see, Anderson back to Utah State, Riley back to OSU, and Nebraska gets a 31-28 Matt Wells from Utah State?

Just saw a recent picture of Anderson. He does not look healthy.

Not saying I disagree with you, I think Urban Meyer is a better coach than Gary Anderson, but Urban won his national titles at blue blood programs that should occasionally win national titles. Now if Urban has heart problems and resurfaces at a place like Oregon State or Kansas and wins a national title then we can anoint him the greatest coach of all time.

Meyer went 22-2 at Utah with an undefeated season after they finished 5-6 the year before he got there. He went 17-6 at Bowling Green after they finished 2-9 the year before he got there.

One lopsided loss to a dominant Clemson team doesn't make UM a mediocre coach when he's won 85% over a long career. Andersen's been mostly mediocre his whole career, except for the years he had Dave Aranda, but even then he didn't beat a single good team - then got beat down so bad by Urban Meyer that he had to run to Oregon State.

Urban is too smart to ever go to a school like Kansas or Oregon State. He took his time going from an assistant coach to a head coach. I got to believe he knew exactly what he was getting at Utah was a pretty good team. after Florida he took a year off before he hired on at Columbus.

You missed the point I was trying to make Urban Meyer has never worked at a power 5 program that is not a blue blood as a head coach. Utah was not in the Pac 12 when he was there. I am not saying he is not a great coach, he is that is why he has the job that he has, but I highly doubt Urban would have that same success at a place like Oregon State. I think we can all agree it is much easier to win a NC at Florida and Ohio State than at Oregon State.

yea but it is also strange that he would tell a sports radio guy this. tells you he was already thinking about it. it was strange he left wisconsin because he wanted to take more juco guys.

ESPN:

After two years as the coach at Wisconsin, where he went 19-7, Andersen made the surprising jump to Oregon State before the 2015 season to replace Mike Riley. He inherited a team devoid of talent but seemingly had the program heading in the right direction coming into the season.
ESPN sucks, just remember that.
