Depends on which organization you are referring to. "pink" isn't just one foundation, and the American Cancer Society is not necessarily the best place for funding to go. I think the pink is silly, but you're vast oversimplification is a little too much. Like 82% of money raised by Komen went to actual breast cancer uses. Some charities give to funds for surviving, and families of people with cancer, and that number definitely wouldn't make it to the American Cancer society. In fact, the American Cancer Society only spends 70 cents for every dollar they take in on their mission.
Also, this is a problem for ALL charities. Sadly, I actually check this
http://www.charitynavigator.org/ site sometimes before giving. The Cancer Survivor's Fund gives only 7.4 cents per dollar to their actual efforts. That's criminal.
