OK boys… Here’s a good object lesson of what a 300 win mag does to a pig skull at 200+ yards.
I tossed the skinned skull in a mesh aluminum bag (didn’t want to lose teeth or any small bone fragments) and buried it. It was mostly intact when I buried (it still had a mouthful of barely). Small entry wound on one side, larger exit wound on the other, but overall still a full skull.

.

Well, I buried it in that mess bag, and let the little carnivorous critters do their job for seven months, disposing of all the connective tissue.

A 300 Winchester magnum is a devastating weapon…this was what I ended up with…an upper jaw, lower jaw, and a literally hundreds of skull fragments. 😂

.

Also, I wouldn’t choose to tangle with a wild pig…

.

.

The shot…

don't hunter use a gun called a creed more? what caliber is that?....idk I just pheasant/quail hunt..and a lil bow hunting

6.5 Creedmoor is a great long range, high speed, flat trajectory round, to reach out to 600+ yards (I own one). Great for antelope and sheep, but sort of lacks the knockdown power to take out a wild hog consistently. They are some tough beasts.

thanks, my brother doll hunt in Alaska, and I know thats what he used..but the most I got was a 30.06 for deer..but then bought a bow and used that instead..don't know much about wild boar except a few helicopter videos I seen..is it true a regular farm pig will turn into a wild boar if left in the wild, or are they different?

Come to Texas and shoot all you want... Pro Tip: Aim Low in the chest cavity... too high and you wont do enough damage to kill the thing

I took a 6x6 big mature bull elk with a custom 6.5 around 8 years ago in the Rockies. That rifle is the only reason I used that caliber for that hunt. Most accurate rifle I’ve ever shot

Don’t get it twisted…love the 6.5. Simply use my 300 win for Elk/Moose. Reserve my 6.5 for whitetail, mule, sheep, antelope, and varmints.

Little substitute for kinetic energy in my opinion. Have never had an elk/moose/caribou, take more than two steps after a shot. I hate following a blood trail. However….to each their own.

Do love the 6.5 for long range (500 yards+).

It is also a round that is violently received by enemies of the United Stares. The 6.5 Creedmoor was chosen by the U.S. Special Operations Command. USSOCOM for you military dudes. It is an excellent round and replaced the 308. I'm a 30-06 fan.

Cool…but we’re not talking about killing fragile humans…we’re talking about taking down massive/dangerous beasts. Humans don’t frighten me…I mean, beyond their massive stupidity.

They are amazing beasts. They can easily kill a dogo Argentino wearing Kevlar. Incredibly intelligent too
The boars have a nearly impenetrable chest plate that aids them in fighting. Need a big round or a well placed shot behind the shoulder…or head shoot em 😉. Farmers and ranchers hate em as they can really tear up a field. And they breed like rabbits.

Actually, you’re going to need to be the one paying $300 (minimum) for me to set foot in Texas…😉
I lived in Texas for a long time but moved back to Florida. All I heard was Texas had a hog problem yet you can't step foot on a property without paying. $300 was on the way low side. Fugg Texas and their assinide motto of Don't Mess With Texas bull$#it.

Everyone messes with Texas.

Cool post. Regarding humans vs dangerous beasts, come to the west side of Chicago -- Garfield Park.
