It wasn’t the same production crew ?

As far as I know, when they switched from ABC to ESPN, they started using ESPN's production crew and equipment, along with their ideas on how it should be telecast. Their experience was with college football, so the differences were very apparent that first season.

I watch the Manningcast when it's on. I'm sure this announcement is due to the actors/writers strike. No new TV season so they need product to fill the schedule.

ABC, the network that ushered in “Monday Night Football” from 1970-2005, will add 10 Monday games, previously exclusive to ESPN, to its slate amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, which will interrupt the release of most new episodes of fall TV series.

Interest in football has gone way up this year now that all the political activism is gone. ABC will make a lot of money. I'm watching at this very moment.

It's probably because of the actors/writers strike and lack of programming. I saw Yellowstone show up on CBS after 60 minute on Sunday. Networks will probably put up more reality series/game shows/older programming from their streaming services etc.. as filler.
