He has a wife though. Despite growing up in EDM she apparently wants to get to toronto new york, la or chicago. Why? She has a high end interior design business and doesnt love the edmonton market. She went to college in toronto as well.
They spent time this summer in chicago apparently.
If McDavid stays in Edmonton for his entire career he will have cost himself tens of millions or more. Unfortunately, NOBODY outside of real NHL fans know who he is because the Edmonton market is nothing. If he played in NY or a major market he would be talked about in the same conversations as sports biggest stars. But then again, if he’s happy and his family is happy then the money doesn’t matter.

An interesting deal for sure. Pens committed to taking one more shot at it with this core. They have these next two seasons then it’s time to burn it down and start over.
McDavid made 4.5 million in endorsements alone last season . That’s the cream of the crop for nhl earners. Im pretty sure everyone in Canada and any NHL fans know who he is

The bigger issue may be the length, as he will probably be looking for a raise, and a longer term deal at the age of 31.
Ya, Gretzky did all right making a name for himself up there.
McDavid's issue is the lack of Stanley Cups.
