He didn't get the nickname "Steam Shovel" for nothing...Forsgate is a typical SS Banks design.Charles Banks….elevated greens, deeeeep bunkers.
Banks courses are historically hell on seniors.

I don't like Reed but how can you blame him when he worked with an official. If it was any other golfer it would be a non-event. Rory supposedly took an illegal drop but no one is talking about that.
I’m a staunch traditionalist who has no issues with those pants.
“Who cares what a bunch of overweight 15 handicaps eating chips on their couches think. The kids love it. Grow the game. It’s 2023.”
Tour player support for joggers. Will they grow the game of golf?

Years ago I played Canoe Brook CC in Summit. One of the guys in the group played golf in a mock turtle polo. After the round when we entered the clubhouse for lunch he was told that the shirt was not allowed in the clubhouse. They had a rack of used golf shirts he could choose from for dining. Ok for the course but dining with collars only.LOL. And people wigged out when Tiger started wearing those mock turtlenecks from Nike instead of a collared shirt.
The new rule helps. I just take the max instead of counting with my fingers and toes.I’m a staunch traditionalist who has no issues with those pants.
As long as the integrity, honesty and etiquette are present, I don’t care what you wear.
I’ve played with men who dress as coordinated as Ricki Fowler and have no awareness or golf savvy, they are not golfers….counting your shots after you hole out….give me a break.
I’ve never hit a shot not knowing what i lay and what stroke I’m playing

Gary Player wore mock turtlenecks with short sleeves in the 60s regularly.
So do many others![]()

"Plus Fours" I think.I think the pants are fine for golf. Just not for men. Heck I loved Payne Stewart wearing the shory golf pants with high socks. (I can't friggin remember what they pants are called)
I played a fundraiser tourney at a private course. They did not appreciate my untucked shirt and lack of belt and sold me a $75 belt from the pro shop (Thanks guys!). They also required no hat in the clubhouse. I guess horrible sweaty hat head was more appreciated than a golf hat. Shrug.
But hey their club their rules. I had expected them to be relaxed when open to a public tourney. I was mistaken.
I enjoy the banks course. As zap stated earlier the bunkering is insane. Whenever I have played there was in good shape (worked as a cart boy and halfway house in high school) It’s mainly a corporate membership so can get crowded and they have lots of play. Amenities were lacking last time there (5 or so years ago) restaurant, gym locker room range etc…. If those things are not important can’t beat the price I hear.Don’t mean to derail the thread but anyone have an opinion on Forsgate Country Club. I’m looking to join a club and recently moved about 20 mins away.

With all events televised, they should just use the video for the rulings. Rounds can't get much longer than they already are. May speed things up at times. I hate all the talk/gossip after the rounds. Use the technology. He "worked" with the official in the sense that he told the official those were the markings on his ball. This dude has been caught way too many times doing stuff like this, so he's lost the right to the benefit of the doubt.
The video seems pretty damning as the ball seems to hit an entirely different tree than the one he claims he found his ball.
Agreed. Thankfully they did away with people watching at home calling in to report violations.... or at least I believe they did away with this. With all events televised, they should just use the video for the rulings. I can't think of any club worth anything that doesn't have those rules outside of nouve riche clubs like Madison, which is awesome in it's own right.
Michael Jordan showed up at my club trying to play in shorts. They aren't allowed and told him he is welcome to buy some pants in the pro shop. He said he doesn't like to play in pants and was told then he can't play, so he left.
Then he started his own club. Grove. Not a great course. Drones deliver you drinks though which is pretty cool.
"Plus Fours" I think.
Those jogger pants aren't for me on the course. I'm a bit of a traditionalist on the course, even though I'm mostly playing county courses. Not opposed to music on the course, but don't have it myself.
I also admit to occasionally having to recount my strokes after a hole, but usually its either because I out of hole, or laughing too much with my buddies. "One in the water, three into the trees, punch out for four, five into the sand, six in the sand, seven over the green, chip in for 8..."

No roll down here Mr. Screw.
Pretty standard at any top tier club.
Golf attire only. Golf shorts/pants (some are pants only), collard shirt, belt, hats off inside.
Pretty easy to comply and if you want to play real courses, that isn't changing.

No shorts is extremely rare today,Pretty standard at any top tier club.

You can't even take carts at my club unless you are over 65 or have a doctors note that has an end date.
Walking with caddies. The way golf was meant to be played.
Nah. Back then some wigged out about the shirt. It caused quite a stir between the traditionalists and the pro-Woods crowd. Not wigged out, disappointed. You're trying to create controversy.
Woods first debuted the mock turtleneck style golf shirt in 2003 at the Buick Invitational. It ignited a debate on the appropriate-ness of the collar-style on the golf course.

LACC and Bel Air are pants only. I am sure there are others out there. No shorts is extremely rare today,
Augusts still has pants only rule.
You can wear appropriate shorts at Pine Valley and Baltusrol now
You can wear shorts, I’ve played it a dozen timesA buddy of mine played Augusta a few years back. I was surprised to hear they had carts. He and his brother both walked, while their father and the member walked the front but took a cart on the back.
Isn't Baltusrol pants only? Or do they allow shorts at a certain temp?
Crazy with the potential heat in LA.LACC and Bel Air are pants only. I am sure there are others out there.
I agree. I can't see it ever changing. It's simply woven into the fabric of the club.
Truth be told, it really only matters for two weeks a year in the Sept/October when the Santa Ana's come and it's 100 degrees out.
80 is fine. In some ways it's helpful. Keeps that warm Ca sun off your skin.
I get my balls busted but the same brand that makes those joggers makes a really light pant thats great for this type of weather. I have a sea foam pair that I love.
